Na Fianna Nuacht Mock Marriage - 21st February

Na Fianna’s Mockarriage takes place on Saturday 21st February in the Club and the intrigue and mystery surrounding the bride’s dress is building. Internationally renowned dress designers have been invited to tender for this very lucrative contract and sealed bids are due to be received in Mobhi Road any day now. Overheard whispered conversations in various parts of the Club during the week relating to the big day’s bows and frills would soften your heart and make and your eyes water….simultaneously and at the same time! First up is the joint Hen and Stag party, hereinafter to be known only as the Hag, which will be held in the Club on the most appropriate of all nights, Valentines night 14th February. Plans are afoot for a great night as family and friends from both sides of the divide get together to honour time honoured traditions of faction fighting, point scoring, name calling, retribution and all other things wedding related. Tickets are €25 for the full event to include wedding banquet and ‘Afters’ tickets to include entry to the speeches, not to be missed, are just €10. Promises to be great fun, tickets now on sale in bar.

Na Fianna Nuacht Dublin A Title For St Aidans CBS

Congrats to St Aidans CBS on their historic Dublin A Senior football title this week, their first since 1973. Incidentally, the St Aidans captain that day back in 1973 was All-Ireland winning captain Tommy Drum. On Tuesday last, the lads won their title overcoming Maynooth PP by 2-16 to 2-05 in Parnells. A significant Na Fianna representation included John Connell and Michael Curley (1996), Gavin King and Cathal Doran (1997), Jeff Rafter and Sam Bruton (1998), James Doran and Donal Ryan (1999).

Na Fianna Nuacht Scoil Chaitríona U-16 Camogie Champions Congrats to Scoil Chaitríona on winning the Dublin Under 16 Camogie Championship during the week. The Scoil Chaitríona team, which included a number of Na Fianna girls had a good win against Loretto College, 6-9 to 1-2. Well done to all involved.

Na Fianna Nuacht Collinstown Crew Huge credit due to all who have been part of the Collinstown tree clearing project over the last few weeks. Dedicated volunteers continue to show their support each Saturday morning and without their help and efforts the great progress that has been achieved would not have been possible, thanks to all concerned.

Handball News Congrats to Meadhbh Ni Dhálaigh on her Leinster Senior Colleges stylish semi-final win against Courtney Brown from Gorey with a scoreline of 21-0. The games are played on a time basis of 20 minutes or first to 21 aces. She now faces Niamh Dunne from Goresbridge in the Final on or before the 7th February.

Na Fianna Nuacht Meadhbh also advanced to the Leinster Minor Singles semi-final with a win over Deirdre Purcell of Kilkenny at the weekend 21-10, 21-11.The semis will be played this Sunday 1st Feb is on Sunday the 1st Feb in Leixlip and best of luck to Meadhbh. Best of luck also to Ned Flynn, one of our older handballers, as he defends his Leinster over 70 singles title today, Saturday 31st Jan in Ballymore Eustace.

Members’ Subscriptions The Club Executive confirmed at its meeting on 20 January 2015 that all membership fees must be paid in order for players to be eligible to train and play matches. Unpaid players are not covered by Players Injury Schemes for any injuries incurred during training or matches. Teams will not be entered into competitions unless the required number of fully paid up players are registered with the Club. Players who part paid their subscription in 2014 must pay the balance as well as their 2015 fees before they are eligible to play.

The online payment facility on the Club website has been updated this week to facilitate instalment payments for family memberships. Subs can be paid online www.clgnafianna.ie , can be dropped into the Club office Mon-Fri 9am-1pm or can be given to team mentors.

Comhbhrón Sincere sympathies are extended to the Pringle family on the recent passing of Mrs Margaret Pringle, mother of former juvenile hurling and football mentor Peter, and grandmother of Minor hurler John.
