Na Fianna Nuacht Senior Hurlers in Championship Tonight
Tonight (Friday 15th) at 8.15 pm our Senior Hurlers will take on O'Tooles in Parnell Park in a must win game for this year’s Championship campaign. The team were bitterly disappointed with their three point defeat to Craobh Ciaran in the first game and will be seeking to atone for that loss tonight. The four team group is tightly balanced as O'Tooles and Brigids drew in their first game - so it's all to play for. A victory tonight will put us back on track for a potential quarter final place. After months of hard work and preparation the team could do with the support of all the Club. So clear the Diary and then your throat! Let’s get there and support the lads and make ourselves heard! Throw in 8.15pm - Parnell Park.

Na Fianna Nuacht Need for Vigilance Teams are again reminded to be vigilant when attending matches or training sessions on club property. Following recent incidents, players and mentors are asked not to leave valuables of any kind in parked cars.
Similarly, teams playing home matches in Mobhi Rd should nominate a specific mentor or parent to take responsibility for securing the home and away dressing rooms before going out on to pitch. This should include locking the dressing room door and locking the interconnecting doors from showers. Teams using dressing room facilities in Mobhi Road are also asked to ensure that the outside door to the dressing rooms is closed firmly after the last training session.
Activity in and around sports clubs can attract opportunists whose motives may be suspect. Indeed a number of GAA Clubs have issued the same alert to their members in recent times. Teams should consider nominating individuals to keep an eye on parked cars during matches/training and to report any suspicious activity to the Gardaí.
Féile Football This Weekend This weekend it’s the turn of our U-14 footballers in Féile and best of luck to both teams. Our A team playing in Division 2 will be based in Naomh Mearnóg GAA Club in Portmarnock. Their games are as follows: 10.30am V St Vincent’s 11.30am V Round Towers Clondalkin 12.30pm V Naomh Mearnóg Best wishes for a speedy recovery to squad members Eoin Killarney following his arm break, which required surgery, sustained last week in a league game and Adam O’Brien who also misses out due to injury. All the lads send their best wishes to Eoin and Adam. Our B team are looking forward to some great, high-octane performances this coming weekend, when they put their hard work and hugely improved skills up against St. Monica’s, Liffey Gaels and Beann Eadair, in their Division 8 group B matches. We’re hoping for great Na Fianna Nuacht 15ú Bealtaine 2015

Na Fianna Nuacht McNulty Memorial Tournament
On the only sunny day of the May Bank Holiday weekend the 9th Dermot McNulty Tournament took place on the Monday. With the club pitches closed on the Saturday and Sunday the ground staff did a great job to have anywhere to Host the competition. 12 teams representing 7 clubs Na Fianna, Ballyboden St Endas. Lucan Sarsfields, Kilmacud Crokes. Faughs, Ruairi Ogs Cushendall and Setanta gathered at 10.30am to partake in the Cup and Shield competitions.180 children born in 2004 played during the day. Dara McGowan Juvenile Chairman Na Fianna opened proceedings. Each panel consisted of 15 players with 11 playing at any one time. Both competitions contained 6 teams and each team was guaranteed a minimum of 5 games. Games were 10 minutes per half. Na Fianna B team had the added bonus of guest player Brian McNulty grandson of Dermot assisting them in their efforts. He travelled from Clare to play. Both Na Fianna teams lost their opening group games and therefore were required to win the rest of the games to reach their respective finals .This meant that Ballyboden and Lucan in the Cup and Kilmacud and Ballyboden became the front runners in both competitions. However our teams steadily improved and continued to win their pool games, each needing to win their last pool game to reach the final.

Na Fianna Nuacht In the Cup We faced Lucan. The team achieved this with some great defending enabling us to prevail by 4 points and face Ballyboden in the Final. The real drama was in the Shield where Na Fianna faced an undefeated Ballyboden Team .Trailing by 2 points going into the last few minutes a side line cut from Na Fianna flew into the net putting us in front for the first time.We held on to face Ballyboden again in the Final. As it turned out both Finals would be contested by Na Fianna and Ballyboden. Both finals were played in a great spirit and a large crowd gathered on the front pitch to cheer on all 4 teams. In the Shield Final, Ballyboden got off to a great start and the lead they built up in the first half proved sufficient to claim the title. In the Cup Final Na Fianna needed to start well. This they did but couldn't get that vital score At H/T Na Fianna trailed by one point 1-1 TO 1-0. A marvellous display by both teams, surely with some stars of the future on display, produced a rip roaring final 10minutes.The ability of both teams to hook and block the greatest feature of this game. Ballyboden secured victory by a scoreline of 1-3 to 1-1. Congratulations to the victors and well done to our lads reaching both finals. Special thanks to The McNulty Family for their continued sponsorship of this tournament and to Therese McNulty, Dermot's wife who attended to present Ballyboden with their spoils, the Cup and Shield.

Members of the McNulty family including Mrs Teresa McNulty and Na Fianna “guest” player Brian McNulty attending the 2015 Tournament
Special Thanks to Anne Ryan and all the ladies who assisted with the catering and to Tyrone Falls and Liam Gaughran who arranged the pitches. All the parents of the 2004 boys should be proud of their efforts on the day as otherwise this competition would not have been the success that it was. Many emails have been received from the participating clubs and also from parents of children involved from those clubs praising the efforts of all involved. The mantle now passes to the 2005 boys to continue this fine competition in 2016.

Na Fianna Nuacht Intel Funding For Na Fianna The Intel Matching Grant scheme is a programme by which Intel Ireland supports community organisations, charities and schools across Ireland. The programme aims to encourage Intel employees to engage in outreach and volunteerism by supporting its employees giving their time and talent to qualified non-profit organisations and schools. After a minimum of twenty hours has been accrued by Intel employees volunteering at a school or qualified non-profit organisation, a donation or 'match' will be triggered by the Intel foundation. Grants are then paid out at $10 for every hour volunteered by an Intel employee.
Thanks are due to Na Fianna member and Intel Ireland employee Des Tuite for operating this program in support of Na Fianna. This has resulted in a payment of $7,650 to the club this year.
Pictured at the Intel Matching Grant Ceremony held in the Intel plant last Wednesday 15th May are Eamonn Sinnott, General Manager Intel Ireland, Colum Cronin, CLG Na Fianna Cathaoirleach, Des Tuite, Intel employee and Na Fianna member and Paraic Duffy, Ard Stiúrthóir CLG.

Na Fianna Nuacht Defibrillator Training Research continues to show that CPR competency and proficient use of the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), of which Na Fianna currently has two, is critical to patient survival. With this in mind, a training course has been arranged for Wednesday 27th May at 8pm in the Club on the effective use of this potential life-saving equipment. This course, which will last approximately 2 hours, will cover Adult / Child CPR & Choking in combination with the safe use and handover procedures associated with the AED.
If you would like to attend please contact the course organiser Muiread Gaffney (email
[email protected] or 085-4170349) by Thursday 21st May at latest. Final numbers must be confirmed by then to allow for the optimal number of presenters and equipment to be arranged. The Club Executive is urging anyone who is directly involved with a team e.g. manager / mentor / coach to attend or to nominate someone from your team to attend.
Supervalu Finglas in GAA Promotion The Supervalu outlet in Finglas (formerly Superquinn) is taking an active part in the national Supervalu GAA Kit for Clubs programme. As you leave the check-outs, you will spot a colourful 'Ballot Box' where you can post your receipt in favour of Na Fianna.
There are four local clubs participating in the Finglas promotion. As well as Na Fianna, customers can also 'vote' with their receipts for other local Clubs including Erin's Isle, Ballymun Kickhams and St Margaret's. The promotion runs throughout May and June and finishes in early July. At the end of the promotion, the club with the most 'votes' or receipts will win €1,000 worth of kit for their club.
If Na Fianna is successful, the kit will be ring-fenced for the Club Nursery. So if Supervalu in Finglas is your preferred port of call for your weekly groceries, please be sure to 'vote' for Na Fianna immediately after checking out.
