In continuation of NFIR's letter of even number dated2510412016,the Federation desiresto convey the following facts relating to the difficulties being faced by the Loco Pilot in the course of perfiorming duties on electrified Loco Cabs. In the Electric Loco Cabs specially WAG9/IVAP5/WAP7, type of Locomotives, the temperature level goes beyond 50'. If Officers conduct foot plate inspection in the Loco Cabs of these Locomotives, they would realize the horrible conditions under which the Loco Pilots made to perform duties. The Railway Board may kindly imagine the miserable plight of Loco Pilots when they are performing duties in these Electric Loco Cabs for more than nine hours continuously. It is also reported that the situation is very much worse in Central, Northern and Southern parts of India where the Locomotives' temperaturecrosses 55 degrees. ' NFIR invites the attention of Railway Board to its letter dated 14th June,2Ll2through which the minutes of the meeting regarding SPAD held in Rail Bhavan, New Delhi on 1210612012were circulated. The suggestions emerged in the said meeting were "make the Loco Cabs sound proof, improve the ergonomic conditions and . relocate the horn and air-condition Loco Cabs". Federation, therefore, urges upon the Railway Board to give top priority for air-conditioning ah Loco Cabs and proper arrangements for their maintenance. Yours faithf
