Principal’s Report Kia ora, Talofa Lava, Kia Orana, Malo e Lelei, Fakaalofa Lahi atu, Bula Vinaka, Namaste, Ni Hao, Nei Ho, Selamat, Konnichiwa & greetings. The end of term is rapidly approaching! Before the end of term, many you will receive mid year reports for your children. The reporting system in New Zealand changed with the introduction of National Standards but all students will still receive two written reports each year. However the younger students receive reports at different times and is dependent on the age of the student. These reports will share valuable information with you about your child's learning. We have scheduled parent teacher interviews for Week 2 of next term, Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th July. At these interviews your child's next steps of learning will be discussed with you and any questions that you have about your child's learning can also be discussed. We are aiming for 100% turn out from parents and caregivers. If the timing doesn't suit, please advise your child's teacher and they will make a time that is suitable for you to meet. Wearable arts everywhere. Great to see how enthusiastic and proud the students are about their wearable art designs and costumes. We have some very creative students here. Our Year 7 & 8 students have been visiting the University of Otago Food Science department and participating in some activities in the science laboratories. It is great to open the eyes of our students to the opportunities that are out there for further education. Students are fascinated by the size of the University and the opportunities that are available. Our netballers and basketballers continue to perform well in their respective competitions. A big thanks to the coaches, managers and parents that have been able to attend these games. Science Club for Year 5 & 6 students is proving to be very popular and our Robotics Club are preparing for an upcoming competition. Regards Ben Sincock Principal

Head Lice
We have had some reports of head lice. Please check your child's head daily and treat when necessary. We need all families to be vigilant with the prevention and treatment of head lice. There are many helpful websites that have great ideas to help prevent and treat head lice.
Uniform / Lost Polar Fleece
Please check the name on your child's uniform regularly to ensure that they have brought home their own uniform (especially polar fleeces) and not someone else's by mistake. It is very important to name all pieces of their uniform so they can be returned if found. LOST - Please keep an eye out for a polar fleece with the name ‘Zeke’ written on the inside. It has been lost from the Heights site.
Donated Beanies
The Kidscan Charitable Trust is dedicated to meeting the physical and nutritional needs of kiwi kids. Knit World are New Zealand’s leading specialists in hand knitting yarns and accessories. Together we are working to provide children nationwide with beanies to help keep them warm during the cold winter months. We were lucky to be given 30 beanies which we are distributing to our youngest children if they don’t already have one of their own. Lorraine Swanson also knits for our children and makes fabulous colourful beanies that she donates to our pupils. Here is a picture of some students from ruma Huia wearing some of the donated beanies. They said that they are cosy and look cool.

Star Writer
On Thursday we made jelly. We made orange and lime flavour. On Friday we made wraps but we had to vote for the wraps. Lachie and Mrs Smith made the meringue tower. Everyone got to chose what they could have in their wraps. I had in my wrap, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, red onion, belgium, pepper, carrot, salami, olives, beetroots and chilli sauce. It was fun. We are having another shared lunch next Friday. Micah Scott, Room Ruru
