About Parent Project Thirteen years in development, the Parent Project® is the only course of its kind, providing activity-based instruction, support groups, and curriculum addressing the most destructive of adolescent behaviors. More than 100,000 families have attended Parent Project® classes nationwide. With a proven track record, the Parent Project® reduced juvenile crime by one third, while significantly improving both school attendance and performance in one community.
Parent Project Philosophy • The vast majority of parents love and care about their children. • Parents are an integral key to successful children. • When provided skills and the necessary support, parents can and will make the difference.
Teen Component The Parent Project® includes a teen component for your child each week. The interactive curriculum, “Choosing Success…Choosing Life,” focuses on the choices teens make – and helps them explore positive alternatives to destructive behavior.
How Does It Work? The Parent Project® curriculum was developed nationally to… • Help parents demonstrate their love for their children • Allow parents to experience early success • Encourage parents to stay with the process • Teach intervention/prevention strategies for school attendance and performance, drug and alcohol use, negative peer association, violence and bullying. • Improve parent/child relationship • Offer ongoing emotional and practical support for the family
Parent Project of Wood County • Learn to parent without arguing with your strongwilled child! • Share with other parents who are facing similar challenges. You are not alone! • Parents meet one night per week: Three hours per night for two weeks, and two hours per night for the remaining weeks. • Parents participate and learn in a classroom model to manage teen behavior problems at home. • Parents receive and practice within an activitybased 216-page curriculum. The program orientation utilizes behavior modification approaches. Parents who have completed the course show an 80% success rate in dealing with children. The Parent Project® will help you begin to accomplish these goals.
