Welcome Back! Welcome back to a new school year! To our new PS2 families, welcome! As you may already know, the PTA of PS2 strives to be a link between the parents, teachers, children, and staff of PS2. The Executive Board, made up of parent volunteers, is here to represent you, and help you become more involved in your child’s school. Throughout the year, there will be various opportunities for you to help us make PS2 a more enjoyable place for our children to learn and grow! EVERY parent of a child who attends PS2 is already a PTA member! Make your membership count! Stay informed! Become involved! We are here to help you do that! Everything the PTA does is to benefit the school. Last year, we were able to: Provide
the Raz Kids reading program for our students to access at home

for the students of PS2 Organize two school
dances In order to continue doing so many wonderful things for our kids, we need your support. Support can come through volunteering at any of our PTA sponsored events, participating in our fundraisers, attending monthly General Membership meetings, and even paying PTA membership dues. We are asking for a minimum $10 membership donation per FAMILY (covers both parents and all children in the school). Of course, any maximum donation will be accepted. Be sure to list all of your children’s names and classes on the envelope when it is returned to school. Welcome back to all of our P.S. 2 family, and to all of our new family members! We hope you all had a restful and peaceful summer, and that you are ready for another great year at P.S. 2. We have so many exciting and innovative ideas in store for the 2016-2017 s c h o o l
y e a r .
We are adding programs that include more familyfun activities, physical education, enrichment, arts instruction, music and more; in addition to all of our finest academic programs and instruction in the city. This was made evident with our 2016 exam results. We are very proud of the progress our students made on the New York State exams. We had an increase of 15% on ELA and an increase of 7% on the math; this places us at 60% for ELA and 61% for math at performance levels 3-4. This is well above the city and state results. We are so proud of all of our staff and students, and all of their hard work made possible with the support of our great parent body. Working together our children will show the greatest success.

School Bus Stop Please be mindful when dropping off your children. The front of the building is designated for school bus drop-off and pick up. Please do not block the area. Remember, too, that passing a stopped school bus with lights flashing is against the law, and dangerous for the children getting off of the bus.
Morning Line Up Weather permitting, students in grade 1-5 will line up in the school yard in the morning. (Be sure a staff member is present before leaving your child in the yard) Breakfast available 7:30-7:50am (enter through Main Entrance)
