Charity – Unity – Fraternity – Patriotism Live your Faith!
Brothers, Thanks to all who participated in this year’s Charity Drive on June 3rd & 4th. We had about 30 brothers (and family members- thanks Guy and Max Demartinis) fill all our time slots and this has greatly helped to replenished our charity funds. Our Reading Food Pantry donation check is ready to go and we will be able to serve many people with these funds. Thanks for your support to me as Grand Knight this past year. I have volunteered to run again for this position next year to help guide our Council and continue its growth in charity, fraternity, unity, and patriotism. Many of the same Officers will also continue to serve. I want to thank all the officers that served and especially our out-going Trustee, Ernie Arsenault, and our long time Recorder, Johnny Russo. Thanks to all of you for being a Knight. I hope you all find time to enjoy the summer with your families. Before you know it the kids will be going back to school (I was recently in Target and they already have their school displays out!!!). With that said our September calendar will be full with a volunteer opportunity at My Brother’s Table on September 10th, Fall Street Faire on September 11th, tentative 2nd & 3rd degree ceremony on September 25th and the Soccer Penalty Kick Challenge soon thereafter. In Christ, Tom Cappuccio Grand Knight Sick and Vigil: Continued prayers for successful treatment of FS Charlie Fallon illness. PGK Bob Castine is at home. He finds it hard to get out. SAINTHOOD? I Caaaaan’t DO IT! Do you know that many Saints felt the same way… It is sometimes difficult to imagine that the great saints of our Church, the heroes and miracle-workers we read about in the stories of our faith, could have anything in common with us, with all our faults, weaknesses, and limitations. But the saints were human, and so they suffered human weaknesses just like us (and worse than us). They should now inspire us with their faithfulness—in spite of all their limitations. They are now our brothers and sisters in arms, interceding on our behalf, and helping us to grow in holiness. So you see we Ca-a-a-a-a-N do it (follow Jesus and become saints) because we are not doing it alone. We can, especially since Christ also gave us the sacraments as a real means of attaining the graces we need to get to heaven, (SAINTHOOD) if we are ready and willing to access to them. THAT’S the part that’s up to us. Have a GREAT Summer ____________________________________________________________DEACON NEIL
