NFIR invites Railway Board's attentionto Chapter8.17.97of 7fr CPC Report,extractof which is placedbelow:8.17.97: "Hence, while this Commission shares the sentiments_of its predecessorsthat government offices need to increase productivity and efficiency, and recommends that OTA should be abolished(exceptfor operational staff and industrial employees who are governedby statutory provisions),at the sametime it is also recommended that in case the government decidesto continue with OTA for those categoriesof staff for which it is not a statutory requirement, then the rates of OTA for such staff should be increasedby 50 percent from their current levels". The Railways being operationalsystemwherein the staff are duty bound to work beyond rostered/statutoryhours when ordered to do so. They are entitled for payment of OTA under statutory provisions. The present OTA rate should therefore be increased by 50% as . recommendedby 7fr CPC. NFIR, therefore, requeststhe Railway Board to kindly increasethe existing Over Time ratesby 50% w.e.f.
