Romans—Part 3

June 25/26, 2016 Romans 1:5-7

FOLLOWING THE MESSAGE 1) 1:5 Grace is not only unmerited, but it is also unearned (Ephesians 2:8-9). 2) 1:5 The office of Apostle: God chose specific individuals in the early church and gave them unique authority to declare and to confirm the gospel through miracles. Also in a broader sense, every Christ-follower is an apostle, sent by Jesus into the world.

10) 1:7 God loves the entire human race (John 3:16), but those who respond to Him are loved in a special way (2 Corinthians 5:17; Jeremiah 31:3; Ephesians 2:4–5; 1 John 3:1; Romans 8:35). 11) The ultimate purpose of God’s calling is that the redeemed become like Him in holiness; that we would bring glory to Jesus, and through that draw people into relationship with Him. GREEK WORDS Hypakoē (hoop-ak-o-ay')—attentive hearkening, (by implication) compliance or submission

3) 1:5 When God saves us from our sins for eternity, He also saves us to carry out His will for our lives (Ephesians 2:10). 4) 1:5 Genuine faith is obedient to the Word of God. 5) 1:5 Faith that does not evidence itself in obedient living is worthless (James 2:14–26). 6) 1:5 To belong to God in a relationship of obedience is to recognize this includes being in submission to His Lordship. 7) 1:6 To accept Christ as Savior is to give up all rights to oneself. Christians belong to Christ 8) 1:7 We are called in three ways:  Into relationship  To a response  Into responsibility 9) 1:7 Saint: a person who is set apart by God (from the world), being made like Him in holiness.
