Senior Accountant May 2017 Exempt Director of Finance & Operations
Position Purpose: The senior accountant is responsible for all aspects of daily accounting including reconciliation of all accounts and ensuring an accurate general ledger. The senior accountant will be responsible for the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. Ideal candidates must demonstrate an ability to think critically, problem solve and communicate clearly in a collaborative environment. The candidate must have strong interpersonal and technology skills, a collegial approach, and excellent organizational and administrative skills. Review and process full cycle of accounts payable and accounts receivable and maintain corresponding documentation. Oversee payroll processing. Prepare month-end close accounts payable and accounts receivable schedules. Assist with year-end close processes, schedules and financial statements. Prepare 1099 statements. Assist with the preparation of the Form 990. Prepare and maintain monthly general ledger reconciliation and journal entries. Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports for trends and discrepancies. Respond to vendor and employee inquiries in a timely manner. Create ad-hoc reports and assist with various business office projects. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures. Maintain highest level of financial confidentiality Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Necessary: ● ● ● ● ● ● ●
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting Minimum of three (3) years of non-profit experience Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting principles Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks independently and complete work in a timely and accurate manner. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel and Word. Knowledge of Intacct accounting software and ADP, preferred.
