Welcome Back! Why Kids Need Breakfast While adults need to eat breakfast each day to perform their best, kids need it even more. Their growing bodies and developing brains need regular refueling often, from food. Unfortunately, many children (especially middle school age) regularly skip breakfast each morning, depriving them of the important benefits associated with the morning meal. Why?

Harvest of the month Why Corn is Good to Eat
Growing and Harvesting
Corn has been considered a staple food in many cultures and can be served whole, or ground into tortillas, chips, or polenta. While it is often considered a vegetable it falls under the agricultural grain category. Corn is high in fiber and antioxidants and when combined with legumes it is a great source of complete protein.
Corn seeds are planted in early May and require warmer soil temperatures near the surface for optimal growth. Seeds require water, sunlight, and the right soil conditions in order to grow. Corn is ready to be harvested once the silks start to dry up and turn brown and the husk is still green.
