Having already caught the passion for learning, four and five year old children are typically very excited and motivated to learn more. It will never again be this easy or this much fun to learn new concepts and skills. Each day the children have time to explore the classroom and cooperate with their classmates. In addition, learning centers, such as science, math, writing, process art and dramatic play, help the children to grow socially, emotionally and intellectually. Students will also capture knowledge through play and circle time. The hands-on-minds-on curriculum used at Small Wonders is a precursor to the curriculum being used for District 194 kindergarten students. It provides students with the foundational skills needed to be successful kindergartners and life long learners. For children 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2015.

Registration Fee, Tuition Fee and Refunds: The non-refundable $100 registration fee

and September 2015 tuition are due with registration. September tuition will be refunded if we receive notification to withdraw from Small Wonders on or before July 31, 2015. All tuition fees are non-refundable after July 31, 2015. Monthly tuition will be collected one month in advance. A $25 late fee will be assessed for late monthly payments received after the 10th of each month.

Small Wonders Preschool Small Wonders School of Science

Young children are naturally curious explorers who are eager to discover information about the world around them. Children learn scientific concepts by exploring observing and investigating materials and ideas. These experiences provide the foundation for abstract and scientific thought. Science concepts are encompassed throughout the key areas of early learning; for example, children use pretend play to explore and manipulate materials, creative arts to discover a variety of ways to express their ideas, and literacy and language arts to research answers to questions. For

students ages 3-6 that are independently toilet trained.

Friday afternoons,12:30-3:00 pm at the Crystal Lake Education Center:

• Experiment with the properties of matter (hard, soft, float, sink, solid, liquid). • Use our five senses to observe, explore, and experiment with scientific phenomena (hands-on science). • Uses simple tools (eye droppers, magnifying glasses) to explore and gather information. • Investigate by collecting, describing, and recording information.

Small Wonders Preschool has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) - the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals. We’re proud to have earned the mark of quality from NAEYC, and to be recognized for our commitment to reaching the highest professional standards. NAEYC accreditation lets families in our community know that children in Small Wonders are getting the best early learning experiences possible. To earn NAEYC accreditation, Small Wonders went through an extensive self-study process, measuring the program and its services against the 10 NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards and more than 400 related accreditation criteria. The program received NAEYC accreditation after an on-site visit by NAEYC assessors to ensure that the program meets each of the ten program standards, receiving 100 percent ratings in all of the standards. In the 30 years since NAEYC accreditation was established, it has become a widely recognized sign of high-quality early childhood education. More than 7,000 programs are currently accredited by NAEYC approximately 8 percent of all preschools and other early childhood programs. “It’s a lengthy and rigorous process to achieve NAEYC Accreditation, and Small Wonders should be commended for seeking high standards,” said Rhian Evans Allvin, executive director of NAEYC. “Teaching children is not ‘rocket science’ – it’s brain science. Studies prove that the brain connections made in the first few years of life set a child’s path for success in school and in life. That’s why quality educators are so crucial. For parents and caregivers of young children who are searching for a high-quality early learning experience, Small Wonders Preschool NAEYC Accreditation is a sign that it offers a high-quality education in a nurturing and stimulating environment.”
