THE​ ​SUPERTINTENDENT,​ ​AREA​ ​SCHOOLS Background Guided​ ​by​ ​the​ ​district’s​ ​vision,​ ​mission,​ ​belief​ ​statements​ ​and​ ​our​ ​goals,​ ​the​ ​superintendent, area​ ​schools​ ​will​ ​assist​ ​the​ ​chief​ ​superintendent​ ​in​ ​fulfilling​ ​the​ ​general​ ​and​ ​specific​ ​aspects​ ​of the​ ​role​ ​description​ ​for​ ​the​ ​chief​ ​superintendent​ ​as​ ​defined​ ​in​ ​the​ S ​ chool​ ​Act​ ​and​ ​Board​ ​policy. Procedures The​ ​superintendent,​ ​area​ ​schools​ ​is​ ​directly​ ​responsible​ ​and​ ​accountable​ ​to​ ​the​ ​chief superintendent,​ ​and​ ​when​ ​assigned,​ ​will​ ​assume​ ​all​ ​responsibilities​ ​of​ ​the​ ​chief​ ​superintendent in​ ​their​ ​absence. 1. Overall​ ​Accountability The​ ​superintendent,​ ​area​ ​schools​ ​provides​ ​strategic​ ​leadership​ ​and​ ​operational​ ​direction and​ ​support​ ​to​ ​schools,​ ​administration,​ ​teachers​ ​and​ ​staff. 2. Specific​ ​Accountabilities 2.1.1

Models​ ​and​ ​supports​ ​Calgary​ ​Catholic’s​ ​inherent​ ​principles,​ ​promoting​ ​a​ ​strong academic​ ​and​ ​spiritual​ ​culture​ ​in​ ​schools.

2.1.2

Participates​ ​in​ ​the​ ​preparation​ ​of​ ​Calgary​ ​Catholic​ ​goals,​ ​objectives​ ​and​ ​action plans.

2.1.3

Assists​ ​in​ ​the​ ​staffing​ ​process​ ​for​ ​administrators,​ ​teachers​ ​and​ ​staff.

2.1.4

Assists​ ​administrators​ ​in​ ​the​ ​development​ ​and​ ​implementation​ ​of​ ​strategies​ ​to enhance​ ​instructional​ ​programs​ ​and​ ​services.

2.1.5

Mentors,​ ​supports,​ ​supervises​ ​and​ ​evaluates​ ​principals.

2.1.6

Builds​ ​a​ ​collaborative​ ​relationship​ ​with​ ​the​ ​school​ ​community.

2.1.7

Supports​ ​professional​ ​development​ ​for​ ​administrators,​ ​focusing​ ​on​ ​Calgary Catholic’s​ ​Leadership​ ​Quality​ ​Standards.

2.1.8

Supports​ ​school​ ​councils​ ​in​ ​carrying​ ​out​ ​their​ ​roles​ ​and​ ​responsibilities.

2.1.9

Develops​ ​and​ ​nurtures​ ​positive​ ​relationships​ ​with​ ​parishes,​ ​parents​ ​and​ ​other stakeholders.

2.1.10 Provides​ ​related​ ​reports​ ​to​ ​the​ ​chief​ ​superintendent​ ​and​ ​the​ ​Board​ ​of​ ​Trustees. Approval​ ​Date:
