STUDENT CONDUCT ON BUSES Background Guidelines for student conduct are provided to ensure that the safety and well-being of district students are being addressed while students are travelling on district provided charter service. Procedures 1. Students riding on a school bus will be under the immediate authority of the driver who will report all cases of student misconduct to the principal. 2. The following procedures apply: 2.1.

The driver is in full charge of the bus and the driver’s directions must be obeyed.

2.2.

The driver may assign specific seats to students at any time.

2.3.

At no time will students extend parts of their bodies out of windows, or try to get on or off the bus, or move within the bus while it is in motion.

2.4.

Students must not throw paper or other material in or out of the bus.

2.5.

While on the bus, students must conduct themselves in a quiet and courteous manner, showing consideration for the comfort and safety of others.

2.6.

Scuffling, fighting, smoking and the use of obscene language on the bus are prohibited.

2.7.

Students must not distract the bus driver.

2.8.

Continued student violation of rules for conduct on school buses may lead to loss of riding privileges or further disciplinary action.

3. Urban Students 3.1

When leaving the bus, urban students who must cross the road are to do so after the bus has left the stop. Students must be able to have a clear view in all directions before crossing the road​.

4. Rural Students 4.1

When leaving the bus, rural students who must cross the road will follow the instructions of the bus driver and cross when instructed to do so. Students must be able to have a clear view in all directions before crossing the road.
