Helpful Vocab:nonrenewable resource Definition: resources for which there is a limited supply. The supply comes from the Earth itself and, as it typically takes millions of years to develop Example: Natural gas, oil, and coal are examples of nonrenewable resources. We should use these wisely to conserve them.

Information from the Principal’s Office indergarten Registration: Jac Cen Del will have Kindergarten registration on Thursday, April 5th K starting at 1pm. Kindergarten registration ends at 7:00pm. If you have a student who is going to be 5 years old by 8/1/2018, we hope to see you there! If you cannot make it, please contact the office.

PTO Soap Sales: Order forms are due in on April 5th. This soap sale helps the PTO fund field trips and school supplies for all students.

McTeacher Night: Do you like McDonalds? Would it be better if you were served by staff from JCDE? If this sounds like fun, come see us at McTeacher Night at the Versailles McDonalds from 5pm to 7pm on April 10th. Staff from JCDE will be working at McDonalds to serve you while McDonalds donates proceeds from food and cookie sales straight back to JCDE! Come enjoy a fun evening with us!

SCHOOL SUCCESS: JCDE was selected as a Promise School. Here is a snippet of information about the Promise Program. College may seem far away to kindergarteners, but this fall, Jac-Cen-Del Elementary will bring post-secondary education and careers front of mind for elementary youth and their families through a collaborative effort called “The Promise.” The program makes educational savings a reality by helping families start a CollegeChoice 529 Direct Savings account through their school, seeding the account with an initial investment from a local or regional sponsor, and rallying the community to match deposits that families and champions contribute to the account. JCDE is among the newest group of communities to launch The Promise program, with the support of Promise Indiana, the Indiana Education Savings Authority, and Lilly Endowment, Inc.

ISTEP+ MULTIPLE CHOICE: All third through sixth graders will begin to take their multiple choice portion of the ISTEP+ on April 16th. The students will be taking one test a day during the testing window. The schedule for ISTEP+ will be in the newsletter next week. MULTIPLE CHOICE COUNTDOWN: 13 Our Spirit Day for Friday is to wear something mix and matched (socks, patterns, etc) as we begin to ‘mix up ISTEP+’
