SUPERINTENDENT, HUMAN RESOURCES Background Guided by the district’s vision, mission, value statements and our goals, the superintendent, human resources will assist the chief superintendent in fulfilling the general and specific aspects of the role description for the chief superintendent as defined in the S chool Act and Board policy. Procedures The superintendent, human resources is directly responsible and accountable to the chief superintendent, and when assigned, will assume all responsibilities of the chief superintendent in their absence. 1. Overall Accountability The superintendent, human resources provides strategic leadership and operational direction and support to Human Resources (Absence Management, Benefits & Pensions, Employee & Family Assistance Program, Employee & Labour Relations, Employee Wellness & Safety, Human Resource Information Systems, Payroll Services, Professional Development and Recruiting and Staffing). 2. Specific Accountabilities 2.1
Participates in the preparation of Calgary Catholic goals, objectives and action plans.
2.2
Ensures the effective operation of all human resource functions.
2.3
Counsels senior administration on human resource and employment issues.
2.4
Ensures compliance with all employment related legislation, regulations and requirements.
2.5
Provides leadership and goal setting for departments; monitors performance management and progressive discipline.
2.6
Ensures an effective system of deployment for Guest (Substitute) Teachers and casual employees.
2.7
Prepares and monitors the annual Human Resources budget.
2.8
Monitors and evaluates the Employee and Family Assistance Program.
2.9
Develops, manages and interprets policies and procedures; both internal and external to Calgary Catholic.
2.10
Manages employee and labour relations issues and oversees the collective bargaining and union consultation processes.

Ensures the effective management and security of employee data.
2.12
Plans and implements professional development programs.
2.13
Manages the Occupational Health and Safety program.
2.14
Manages the Absence Management system.
2.15
Manages the staffing process for all employees.
2.16
Provides related reports to the chief superintendent and the Board of Trustees.
