August   4,   2017    Dear   Buckeye   Community,    We   only   have   a  few   weeks   left   before   school   will   be   back   in   full   swing   for   our   students,   teachers  and   staff!    I  hope   you   were   able   to   take   some   time   and   enjoy   the   break   from   school   with   family  and   friends.    I  can   assure   you   that   we   have   been   very   busy   this   summer   preparing   for   a  successful   2017­18   school   year.    I  want   to   thank   those   staff   members   who   have   been   working  all   summer   to   repair,   maintain   and   improve   our   facilities.    They   have   been   busy   and   their   hard  work   is   noticeable   throughout   the   district.    Some   of   our   facility   projects   included   upgrading   security   cameras,   completion   of   the   final   phase  of   the   high   school   HVAC   project,   phase   two   of   the   replacement   of   high   school   lockers,  painting/sealing   the   elementary   building,   paving   projects   at   both   the   elementary   and   high   school  and   replacing   and   repairing   the   fence   at   both   stadiums.    Various   rooms   in   all   buildings   have  been   painted   and   new   LED   lights   have   been   installed   in   the   elementary   cafeteria.    After   school  gets   started,   we   will   also   be   replacing   auditorium   seats   at   the   high   school.      Many   staff   have   also   been   busy   this   summer   preparing   for   new   academic   offerings.    We   are  implementing   the   next   phase   of   our   district   technology   plan,   which   includes   issuing   1:1  Chromebook   devices   to   all   students   in   grades   7  through   10.   In   collaboration   with   the   Medina  County   Career   Center   we   have   added   additional   STEAM   classes   at   the   junior   high   and   high  school.    We   have   increased   elective   class   choices   at   the   junior   high   and   high   school,   added  more   Advanced   Placement   classes   at   the   high   school,    and   have   increased   our   gifted   services  across   the   district.    We   are   excited   to   welcome   many   new   staff   this   year   and   we   look   forward   to   sharing   Buckeye  Pride   with   each   of   them!       B   uckeye   Primary  Cheryl   Bartko,   Secretary  Hannah   Hartley,   ½  day   Job   Share   ­  Kindergarten

We   have   made   some   changes   this   year   to   our   beginning­of­year   processes.    As   there   have  been   changes   in   law   regarding   student   privacy,   class   lists   will   not   be   posted.    Your   child’s  teacher   information   will   be   emailed   to   updated   email   addresses   on   file   of   those   parents   who  have   completed   the   Registration   Gateway   update.    Also,   due   to   starting   school   on   Monday,  August   21,   2017,   we   are   not   able   to   have   elementary   Open   Houses   the   night   before   school.    I  can   assure   you   we   will   have   plenty   of   adults   on   hand   to   assist   with   getting   each   child   to   his   or  her   proper   classroom.       Finally,   I  want   to   invite   you   to   an   evening   presentation   at   6:30   pm   on   Friday,   August   18th   at  Buckeye   High   School   to   learn   about   “Raising   Brilliant,   Kind,   and   Happy   Children   in   the   Digital  Age.”    This   is   a  free   program   and   is   designed   to   help   better   understand   your   child.    Please   see  the   attached   flyer   for   more   information      I   hope   the   2017­18   school   year   is   a  great   one   for   you   and   your   family.    I  am   excited   to   see   what  our   students   can   achieve!    Go   Bucks!    Kent   J.   Morgan  Superintendent
