Technology Day: Patrons, Technology & You: A SWFLN Special Event Date: December 10, 2014 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Location: South Regional Library Branch / Collier County Public Library This “special event” will give you the tools you need to help your patrons download eBooks onto their many types of devices. Diana Silveira will be teaching us to “Train the Technology Trainer” with tips and tricks for managing the unexpected - from tech issues to problem patrons. At the end of the day each member will leave with an Ebook Device Flowchart for their home library, to better assist their patrons with eBook downloading. There is a rumor going around that SWFLN “may” have some exciting giveaways. You will only know for sure if you attend!
Teen Programming: From ALA to Gaming Date: December 2, 2014 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Location: SWFLN Office Learn how to put together a successful teen or tween program. Discuss the components of a program and how to manage groups of teens and tweens. You will leave with ready-made programming connected to YALSA’s programming initiatives, including Teen Read Week and Teen Tech Week, as well as game-based play programs perfect for teens and tweens.

Date: December 12 2014 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM EASTERN Location: Web Based Training The Bibliographic Framework Initiative is a project initiated by the Library of Congress in order to provide a replacement standard for Machine-Readable Cataloging (MARC). This replacement standard is called BIBFRAME and will entirely replace the MARC format. This webinar will refresh some of February's BIBFRAME webinar (such as why a replacement for MARC is needed) and provide an update on the Initiative's progress. You will be introduced to some of the free tools you can use to convert MARC records to BIBFRAME records, as well as create your own BIBFRAME records.

The Expansion of the Circulating Library! Just when you thought there was no room for expansion, SWFLN surprises you with the “Mobile IPad and Surface Lab”. The mobile lab includes 10 Apple Retina Display IPads and 8 Microsoft Surfaces, that will be a part of the SWFLN Circulating Library. The mobile lab will be an awesome resource sharing opportunity for all of SWFLN member libraries.
