Bus Student Information & Expectations Tahquamenon Area Schools Transportation Department assures you that we strive to transport students to and from school in the safest and timeliest manner possible. Following, please find important items about transportation of which you should be aware. 

Please remember that school bus transportation is a privilege and not a right. The bus driver is the sole authority on the school bus.

Parents are responsible for their child's safety going to and from the bus stop and while waiting for the bus. Students are only permitted to bring items on the bus that can fit on their laps.

Students must be at their bus stops five minutes prior to the scheduled pickup time.

Students must ride to and from school on their assigned buses only. They may be dropped off at an alternate site only in emergency situations in which the parent is unavailable. Parents must call the school or write a note to request a bus pass for their student for these emergency situations.

Kindergarten and First Grade students are given badges that are attached to their backpacks to assure they get on the correct bus. Drivers are permitted to drop off students in these grades only if it is apparent that an adult is present.

Students shall always cross the road at least ten feet in front of the bus. Before crossing the road, they should wait until the bus has stopped and has its red lights flashing. Then look both ways before crossing the road.

Bus rules are posted on each bus. The three main rules are: 1. Stay seated at all times 2. Keep your hands to yourself 3. Follow the driver’s directions Parents are responsible for any damage to the bus caused by their child.

Discipline for misbehavior on the bus may include a warning, assigning a seat, detention, or bus suspension, depending on the severity of the infraction. Continued misbehavior may result in the student losing bus privileges.

Buses drop off students in the front of the school. After school, the buses are lined up in front of the school in the same order every day.

If there are any issues on the bus please notify the driver and the transportation department so the issues can be addressed.

If a student does not ride their assigned bus for 30 days they will be dropped from the transportation list and will need a bus pass to ride again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I have read and understand the Transportation Information and Expectations for Tahquamenon Area Schools.
