WEDNESDAY NEWS Issue No.60# March 2 to March 15, 2016 Events/Talks/Seminars/Conferences Faculty development programme by Dr. Gangan Prathap As a part of the faculty improvement programme at VAST-TC, Dr. Gangan Prathap, Academic and Research Director, VICT has begun a course on “Finite Element Method” primarily for the Mechanical Department on 10th March, 2016. Student Participation at “Colloquium 2016” Students of S6 ECE participated for the national level tech fest “Colloquium 2016” organised at Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram on March 4, 2016. Women’s day celebrations 2016 VAST, Technical Campus, Kilimanoor plans to organise programmes to celebrate International Women’s day on the 16th of March, 2016.

Student Association Electrical Association – TELSA – Paper Presentation

A paper presentation programme was organized by the students of EEE branch under the banner of association TESLA on 4th March, 2016 at the seminar hall. Mr Lagari. A of S2 EEE presented a paper on “Cognitive Field Theory“. Assoc. Prof. Sabna. M (HOD, EEE), all faculty and staff of EEE along with all the EEE students were present for the talk.

M (HOD, EEE), all faculty and staff of EEE along with all the EEE students were present for the talk.

Career Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU)  

Webinar on “Innovation to Implementation” A webinar on 'INNOVATION-to-IMPLEMENTATION' on March 9th was attended by students from first year Mechanical, VAST, TC as a part of CGPU activities in the campus. The webinar dealt with the key aspects on 

Design & Engineering techniques to take an innovative product idea to implementation.



Practical Engineering judgment at each stage of Product Development (PD)



Reference to Engineering theory in semester curriculum.



Software skills required at each step of design process.



Detailing of PD workflow through a practical illustration.

The webinar was very useful for first year students as they are having Design engineering course in the current semester. The speaker discussed all the stages of design of Punching machine, which includes, design, working principle, material, sketching etc.     
