YEAR 7 Darkwood Manor Concepts- Truth and Illusion/Perception. Learning Intentions and Outcomes- Students will reflect on the concepts of perception and truth and illusion in drama and theatre. They will work in a range of groupings as well as individually to explore to explore the ideas in the scheme and develop their foundation drama skills. MaD Week Half Term They will explore the development of character both in a written sense and through performance, considering all of the communication skills involved throughout the process. Focus of Assessment. Students can work imaginatively as part of a group directing others to improve and change the work. Commitment is focused and positive, emotional and social skills are evident. Students are able to create an appropriate credible character writing in role. Students can use vocal, physical and imaginative skills. Christmas Title: Greek Theatre - MYP Concepts- Communication, Structure, Orientation in Space and Time.
CNY Statement of Inquiry- In amny cultures, socities ad traditions, how something is communicated can be more important than what is communicated. Learning Intentions and Outcomes- Students will present an oral and visual presentation on the history and origins of Greek Theatre and will be introduced to some of the conventions of the Greek Chorus, the Protagonist and the use of the Ampitheatre. They will also create a visual storyboard of their intentions for a Easter Physical Theatre- MYP Concepts Communication, Innovation and Personal and Cultural Expression. Statement of Inquiry- Meaning can be ccommunicated to an audience in innovative ways and is influenced by personal and cultural experience. Learning Intentions and Outcomes- the students will explore different innovative practitioners and work in an expressive and creative way to devise an original piece of physical theatre reflecting on the personal and cultural expression visible in their work.

Easter They will work as a collaborative group to create an ensemble piece using a range of Brechtian devices and conventions to alienate their audience and distance the viewer. Through being led through a series of structured, systematic exercises the student will then independantly work in a pair to perform a short scene from a scripted play. Hamlet- Elizabethan Theatre Concepts- Origins/Traditions Learning Intentions and Outcomes. Students will research into the historical context of Shakespeare and the Elizabethan Theatre. Easter They will cover such aspects of Shakespeare's birthplace, the plays, the London Period, the Globe Theatre and famous productions of Hamlet. Students will be able to present their knowledge in effective communication and rapport with the audience. They will watch and learn the plot overview of Hamlet, exploring the charcacters and motivations. Focus of Assessment- The presentation of the opening scene of Hamlet and the final scene in small groups focusing on specific drama skills. The presentation in small groups is also assesseed.
