State Department Issues Guidance on Travel Ban On December 4, 2017, the State Department issued guidance on the presidential proclamation barring the entry of nationals of six Muslim-majority countries after the Supreme Court stayed injunctions issued by federal district courts in Maryland and Hawaii. According to the State Department, previously scheduled visa appointments will not be cancelled, and individuals subject to the proclamation who currently possess a valid visa or travel document may generally still travel to the United States. Answers to frequently asked questions about the proclamation are available at https://travel. state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/new_court_ orders_on_presidential_proclamation.html.
USCIS To Accept Applications Under International Entrepreneur Rule On December 14, 2017, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that it would soon begin accepting applications under the international entrepreneur rule initially promulgated under the Obama administration. The Department of Homeland Security had previously delayed the effective date of the rule until March 2018, but a federal district judge in Washington, D.C., vacated the decision to delay implementation. The rule will allow international entrepreneurs to apply for parole and grow start-up businesses using U.S. investments.
