The pig, Chris P Bacon, currently outside the Abbey Visitor Centre is part of the Henson Pig Trail. He is here for the summer and at the end of the Pig Trail all the pigs will be auctioned off at a charity auction at Highnam Court at the Pied Piper 20th Anniversary Ball on the 23 September. Funds raised will be donated to the Pied Piper Appeal, Glos Arthritis Trust and Theatre Gloucestershire. A plaque with these details will be installed next week and a map of the locations of all the pigs in the county is available to download from TIC’s. Assistant Verger We need to recruit at least one more person to our team of Assistant Vergers, who support the full time Vergers. Assistant Vergers work shifts when needed on the rota, covering busy periods in the Abbey calendar and colleagues’ absences. Pencil Cases Please can you fill a pencil case for the foodbank to give to the children when they start school in September? Please leave them with the Vergers or the Abbey Office. Thank You. What is a Dignity Bag? 1 it is a gym bag 2 it is filled essential items 3 its is sent to women and girls in Syrian refugee camps
These women and girls have been through tremendous hardships and most face a very bleak future. We would like you to fill a bag which contains some of the essential items they will need just to maintain a basic sense of dignity. Please can you fill one? Leaflets are at the back of the Abbey.
Katherine Watson, Philippa Shaw and others will be taking part in this years Ride + Stride on Saturday 9 September. They will be looking for sponsors!

Almshouses Available There are currently two Almshouses available in Tewkesbury, a one bedroom flat in the Abbey grounds and a one bedroom cottage near the town centre. Both are intended for older people and provide a home for life at a monthly cost well below market rents. For further details phone Linda Jeffreys, 298368.
