We have two National Champions: Individual Exhibition w/Arms (JROTC) and Bench Press (NASA) Student Government won the Gold Honor Council Award & Bronze Gavel Award recognizing our program as the third strongest in the state. JROTC Drill Team finished first in the state and fourth in the Nation. The orchestra received a Superior rating in Concert Festival in grade V. One of our students finished second in the nation for video editing out of over 1200 students. Five of our Teacher Cadet students received the Teaching Fellows Scholarship worth up to $24,000. A Special Olympics student won an essay contest through Arc of the Midlands and got to throw out the first pitch at the Columbia Fireflies second game in their new park!

PURPOSE Dear Parents and Community, The School Improvement Council at Airport High School has prepared this summary report for you and community members interested in our school in accordance with the Elementary and Secondary Academic Act (Act 135) of 1993. Airport High School consists of 1350 students in grades 9 through 12. It is the largest of the two high schools in Lexington District Two. Airport High School’s attendance area includes the communities of Springdale, South Congaree, Pine Ridge, Dixiana, and parts of Cayce-West Columbia. This report echoes our school’s focus on continuous improvement and our results as we strengthen our academic programs and school climate.

E A R LY C O L L E G E P R O G R A M The addition of our Freshman Cohort program, beginning this summer, is designed so students have a real opportunity to earn an Associates’ Degree and their high school diploma at the same time. Our Early College Program is in partnership with Midlands Technical College. All of the college courses offered on our campus are at no cost to our students or families.
