Purpose Statement: The purpose of the 2018 BrainWorks conference is to equip those affected by dementia with the knowledge and resources to live well.
April 10, 2018
Audience: Includes nurses, nursing assistants, social workers and other dementia care professionals. Family care partners, friends, students and individuals with early-stage dementia are also welcome.

Conference Objectives: • Identify the needs of caregivers caring for people with dementia. • Identify strategies to assist in managing caregiver stress. • Attendees will be able to demonstrate the use of technology as a way to manage dementia. • Attendees will be able to incorporate the knowledge learned about financial resources to help pay for dementia related costs. • Demonstrate and describe how to navigate behavioral changes in dementia from the tools presented. Marty uses humor and compassion as he shares lessons from his ongoing, decade-plus journey as a caregiver detailed in his acclaimed book, “My Two Elaines: Learning, Coping, and Surviving as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver.”
James Hendrix Ph.D. James A. Hendrix, Ph.D., is Director of Global Science Initiatives at the Alzheimer’s Association where he leads the Global Biomarker Standardization Consortium, and assists with the coordination of $100 million Imaging Dementia-Evidence for Amyloid Scanning (IDEAS) Study on the clinical usefulness of amyloid PET imaging.
Lori La Bey Lori La Bey is the founder of Alzheimer’s Speaks, a Minnesota based advocacy group making an international impact by providing education and support for those dealing with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
