Bruce Monroe @ Park View Meeting Notes: 1/20/16 DCPS and DGS Participants Patrick Davis (DCPS) Renard Alexander (DCPS) Stephen Kitterman (DGS) SIT Overview Patrick Davis (DCPS) reviewed SIT Overview Slides (Previously Distributed) Notes:  Assigned SIT Coordinator for Bruce Monroe will be Toussaint Webster  A DCPS website is in development, which will host meeting materials, notes, and other relevant documents.  SIT Member asked who the DGS Project Manager will be.  DGS shared that it is still under review, but Mesfin Medhin worked on previous projects here. The SIT noted that communication is important moving forward.  The SIT noted that there needs to be a process to determine when contractors will be in the building with clear communication. o This will be the role and responsibility of the DGS Project Manager to coordinate this with the school and DCPS.  A SIT member voiced frustration that DCPS/DGS are just now coming to the school because they have been meeting for months.  DCPS shared that there are two different pots of money for the school: o River Smart - River Smart project which is a DOEE grant and must be used to address storm water concerns. o CIP Budget of $5.7 million  DGS estimated that the proposed kitchen, cafeteria, and associated site work plan would exceed the project budget. DGS provided a rough estimate that it would cost closer to $10 million with todays construction costs.  DGS shared that the 2012 drawing was only at concept level only and that an architect would need to be hired to further the drawings to get a more refined estimate, if that is the priority.  DGS reviewed high-level list of potential projects/building deficiencies (included in slides) o SIT members voiced frustration that many of the items (e.g. roof, HVAC, etc.) should not come out of the project budget and feel that they are routine things that DGS should take care of anyways. o Several SIT members shared that the priority is the cafeteria and kitchen work and that additional funds should be found to complete the project. o SIT members noted that DGS already promised to do the AC in the gym as a separate project. DGS confirmed this. o There was a request to start pricing the list of potential projects to see what could be done within the project budget. DCPS and DGS shared that this will be done prior to the next meeting. o The school and community were going to look at the list and evaluate if there were additional items that needed to be added. o A SIT member asked if landscaping and work around the entrance way could be accomplished with this work.  There was frustration from several SIT members because they felt that DGS told them in the past that $5.7 million would be enough to complete the project.  CM Nadeau inquired about potential partnership approach as source for fund delta to support new building addition. Will engage discussions on process with City Officials. The Next SIT Meeting was scheduled for February 9th @ 6PM
