NEWS RELEASE CITY OF SYRACUSE SEEKS PARTNER TO OPERATE BIKE SHARE SYSTEM BY SUMMER 2018 City works with Syracuse Bike Share Committee to issue RFQ for experienced bike share system operator SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The City of Syracuse issued a Request for Qualifications Wednesday to select an operator for a public bicycle system in Syracuse. The RFQ is now available on the city’s website at http://www.syracuse.ny.us/PurchaseRFP. Proposals will be accepted until Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. Mayor Walsh announced in his State of the City address in late January that the city would pursue having a bike share system in operation in Syracuse during the summer of 2018. The RFQ is designed to identify qualified suppliers of the service. The system is envisioned as a citywide operation that will be developed in close partnership between the Syracuse Bike Share Committee, convened by Adapt CNY and the City of Syracuse. The RFQ specifies the bike share must be a self-sufficient, independently operated system requiring no City capital or operating expenses. It also stipulates the system must: be sustained by sponsorship, advertising, and membership revenues. comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including proper permitting.
