September 2016 Hello Parents, Can’t believe school is underway! Each month you will receive a letter explaining upcoming skills as well as activities for the month. On the back will be a Calendar for snacks, birthdays, and activities. We encourage you to work with your child at home on the skills we are teaching at school. This will build their confidence level as well as help them to retain the new skills they learn. The Sunbeams (4/5 class) will be reviewing the recognition of shapes and colors. They will also be reviewing how to write their first name using upper and lower case letters. We hope to have all kids writing their name by themselves by the end of September. If your child struggles with these please practice a lot at home. They can write their name in dry pudding on a cookie tray, shaving cream on a counter, with crayons, or on an iPad/phone/tablet with a special app. There will be some practice papers coming home as well for them to practice on. We will also begin learning to write and recognize the letters AF and number 02 throughout September. Other skills that we have been working on are following directions! We are also concentrating on various Nursery Rhymes throughout the year, which will be used in this year’s graduation program. We encourage you to practice these Nursery Rhymes throughout the year to keep them fresh in their minds. We are currently doing Hickory Dickory Dock and will begin Jack Be Nimble and Jack and Jill in September. Picture day for ALL classes will be Wednesday, September 21 at 9:00. We will begin with the 2 year old class and then they may leave. We will then continue thru the rest of the classes. Please bring your order form with money to picture day. Mother’s Tea will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at 7:00. This is for ALL CLASSES. There will be activities and special treats for this evening. The kids are also making special crafts for their moms for that night. You will need to park in the main church parking lot (on the opposite side of church from preschool.) Please walk your child to the preschool room and then you will go and have a seat in the Fellowship Hall. We thank those who have brought snacks for helping us with healthy snacks. Just a reminder that we ask that you send in healthy snacks on your snack day such as cheese sticks, fruit, crackers, graham crackers, etc. We will provide water for the children to drink. Another reminder is to send your child in tennis shoes to school as we try to go out for recess and rocks seem to get into sandals and flip flops. This also is for their safety. Thanks! We appreciate all of your help in making your child’s preschool learning a special experience. If you ever have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Carolyn by text or call at 8125210281.
