THE VILLAGE VOICE COMMUNITY EVENTS AT THE VILLAGE SQUARE 1198 VANKOUGHNET ROAD Bracebridge, P1L1X1 705-645-7548
Help for the O’Byrne’s John and Leona O'Byrne own a small hobby farm at Bell Creek 1100 Lambert Road close to the end of the road. A few weeks ago John, a skilled woodworker, suffered a small stroke while using a log splitter. His hand is damaged. Later that day John experienced a more significant stroke and he is now in hospital for an indefinite time. Leona must manage the farm, including chickens and horses, while providing respite care for two developmentally challenged adults. Leona is travelling back and forth to the Hospital to support John, make decisions and monitor his progress. As one might imagine all of this is exhausting and overwhelming. One thing members of our community can do to help is to provide a hot meal for four to Leona on a daily basis. There is a website set up for this purpose and here is the link: http://www.takethemameal.com/meals.php?t= MXQN8481 The link will take you directly to the website where you simply follow the instructions by indicating what day or days you can help Leona with some meals. (No computer? Call Jennifer Milne: 705-646-0248 to sign up.) The meals are to be delivered to the O’Byrne’s home, Bell Creek at 1100 Lambert Road at 5:30 pm on the sign up day. If there is no one home place the meals (packaged in disposable containers)

in the box on the porch. Should you sign up, the website will remind you the day before, it is simple and it helps Leona and her family receive a variety of balanced meals every day. These are our friends and neighbours-please help if you can and know that your help is appreciated. Someday it might be one of us in need of support. To receive email updates on John’s condition please sign up with Deb Crockatt at

The Great Lemonade Race Was very successful again this year with a great turn out of spectators, and the weather cooperated. The lemons were dropped from the McCutcheon Bridge at 11:00am and as predicted by Jen Blanchard the lemons arrived at the Peterson Bridge 55 minutes later. The first lemon to arrive was Glen Goodale’s, 2nd was Cam Lambert’s and 3rd was Shawn Weir’s, congratulations to all. The event raised $1,168.75 which will be shared with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and The Village Square Both GREAT causes! Many thanks to our many volunteers and to all who participated, without all of you it wouldn’t have been such a success. Another Job Well Done!
