Hickory  Tavern  Panthers   “Heighten  The  Performance”   September  13,  2016   Hello  Hickory  Tavern  Middle  School  parents,       The  middle  school  (6th  –  8th  grade)  after  school  tutoring  program  will  start  on  Wednesday,  September  21st.    Tutoring   will   be   provided   in   both   ELA   and   Math   on   Wednesday   and   Thursday   afternoons   from   3:15   –   5:15   pm.       Bus   transportation  is  available  if  needed.      The  tutoring  programs  will  enable  students  to  improve  their  grades,  increase   self-­‐esteem,  build  confidence,  and  develop  positive  mentoring  relationships.      

Students  who  are  enrolled  in  the  21st  Century  after  school  program  will  not  be  allowed  to  sign  up  for  this  tutoring   program.   After-­‐school  tutoring  schedule   3:15  –  3:30  –  Snack  with  21st  Century       3:30  –  4:15  –  First  rotation  of  ELA  or  Math   4:15  –  4:30  –  Break  –  change  classes         4:30  –  5:15  –  Second  rotation  of  Math  or  ELA   5:15  –  Dismissal   Tutoring  will  meet  on  the  following  dates.       September  21-­‐22,  28-­‐29  **  October  5-­‐6,  12-­‐13,  26-­‐27  **  November  2-­‐3,  16-­‐17,  30  **  December  1,  7-­‐8,  14-­‐15  January   11-­‐12,  18-­‐19,  25-­‐26  **  February  1-­‐2,  8-­‐9,  15-­‐16,  22-­‐13  **  March  1-­‐2,  8-­‐9,  22-­‐23  **  April  12-­‐13,  19-­‐20,  26-­‐27      

Students  must  attend  both  ELA  and  Math  tutoring  rotations.    Students  will  be  enrolled  for  each  9-­‐week  session.      Due   to   a   small   student   to   tutor   ratio,   students   who   miss   three   or   more   days   of   tutoring   in   a   9-­‐week   period   will   be   dismissed  from  the  program.    He  or  she  may  re-­‐enroll  at  the  start  of  the  next  9  weeks  or  be  placed  on  a  waiting  list.          

EXPECTATIONS:  Students  are  expected  to  arrive  on  time.    Students  are  expected  to  focus  on  assignments  and  work   collaboratively   with   tutors.   They   are   expected   to   listen   to   and   follow   directions   to   support   a   fun,   safe,   and   respectful   learning  environment.  Failure  to  follow  directions  will  warrant  call  home  or  dismissal  from  the  program.      Bus  Riders   are  expected  to  follow  all  bus  rules  and  regulations.    Car  riders  should  be  picked  up  no  later  than  5:30  PM  on  tutoring   days.   The   parents/guardians   are   expected   to   contact   and   or   leave   a   message   for   Ms.   Ayers,   864-­‐575-­‐2126   ([email protected])  if  their  student  plans  to  be  absent.
