Thursday 12th November This year the Kiwi Team has spread some EOTC(Education Outside the Classroom) experiences out over the course of the year. This included our trip to the Farm and Botanical Gardens. Although this is not our formal EOTC year, we are still planning on completing some EOTC experiences at the end of the term. We are doing this mainly in the very last week of school, We know that these experiences are very valuable and a good way for students and teachers to enjoy some quality time together before the end of the year. We have put a strong emphasis on outdoor activities, physical education skills as well as actives that are based around safety for this particular programme as we are heading into the long summer holiday. We have enclosed detailed information on all the activities and trips. Please read through these carefully and send the page with the return slips back to school as soon as possible. Some of our activities require the assistance of helpers and therefore we need to know whether we will have enough assistance on the day to be able to proceed. We tried to keep the cost to a minimum and there will be an amount of $25 payable before the 9th of December 2015. We have the following options available for payment: Payment  options  available:   1.   The  Reremoana  Online  Shop  –  EOTC  Week   2.   Direct  credit  into  the  school  bank  account   12-‐3032-‐0211578-‐00

Please feel free to contact Mrs Karien Fourie at any time should you have any questions or concerns. Kind regards Karien Fourie Kiwi Team Leader /Assistant Principal Programme for EOTC 25,26 November and 7,8 December Cricket We are very fortunate to have Barry Rhodes from Counties Manukau Cricket coming into the school doing some cricket development and small ball skills with the classes. Remember to send a hat and a drink bottle to school on these days . We ask that you ensure that your child has sunscreen on and we will also have sunscreen available at school. If your child is allergic to any particular sunscreen, please provide your own. We can keep it safely in teacher offices if it is clearly named 9 December - Swimming Activities: Activities will include: • Survival swimming • Use of Life Jackets – Putting on, Swimming / Floating • Survival - entires and exits, bouncing, u turn • Floatation - using objects to float with and own floating The students will also be enjoying a half an hour of fun swimming at the Papakura Wave Pools next to Massey Park in Papakura. We will leave from school at 9:30 and we will be back by 12:00. Students need to come to school wearing their togs under their school uniform. Please send an extra plastic bag to school for wet clothes. We need parent helpers and transport for this trip. If you can not help with transport you need to send a car seat to school with your child as they have to travel with these in order to comply with the new changes to the law. Name all items like togs, towels and goggles. Please note if we don’t have enough parent help with transport, we will have to only make use of the pool for fun and won’t be able to take part in the swim safety programme, as we will then need to book a bus and we want to keep costs as low as possible. 10 December -Hockey We have booked Mike Delaney from Counties Manukau hockey to come out and give our learners a “taste of hockey”.

They will learn small ball skills, stick skills and have fun discovering this exciting game. Our members will only need a hat and drink bottle on this day.

11 December - Scooter day In conjunction with the Police and Auckland Council we will be providing a fun filled Scooter Day scootering all the way to Moor Park. We will have a picnic day and some fun activities at the park and ride back on our scooters. Some fun activities will be a time trial and a scooter decorating competition. We will also learn more about safety on the roads. The children are asked to bring their scooters to school. If they do, they must also have a helmet. As we are a large number of students in the Kiwi team we ask that you do not send your child with a bike to school. If they haven’t got a scooter they are welcome to walk along. The scooters need to be left in the designated area next to the classrooms as indicated by the teachers. We are looking for helpers to accompany us on this trip. We are also looking for some volunteers who live close by and might be able to help us with toilet facilities so we don’t have to travel backwards and forwards to school from the park. Please contact Mrs Karien Fourie if you are able to help.

A trip to the Auckland Zoo-14 December What better way to end the year on a visit to the Auckland Zoo. On this day we will have a focus on the “Kiwi bird’’ Learning Outcomes: Naming and identifying some NZ animals Knowing what animals need to find in their habitat to stay alive. Giving an example of how a NZ animal is suited to its particular habitat. We will take a short journey through selected habitats in Te Wao Nui so students may identify and observe several different NZ animals. Students will discover special features about these animals which help them to survive in their particular habitat. We will leave the school by 9:00 and will return just before 15:00. We will make use of the bus for transport. Unfortunately we can only accommodate limited numbers of adult supervisors and therefore we will choose helpers on a first come first serve base. Students need to wear their uniform and hats
