TOWN COUNCIL JOINT PUBLIC HEARING EXMORE TOWN COUNCIL AND EXMORE PLANNING COMMISSION JULY 20, 2015 7:00 PM At a Joint Public Hearing between the Town Council and the Planning Commission of the Town of Exmore, Virginia, held in the Meeting Room of the J. Guy Lawson Municipal Building, 3305 Main Street, Exmore Virginia, on the 20th day of July, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. Council Members: Mayor Douglas Greer-Present Vice-Mayor Thomas Lewis-Present Councilman G. STAFF PRESENT: Robert Duer, Ethel Parks, Taylor Dukes. CALL TO ORDER: The Exmore Town Council was called to order at 7:00 pm by Mayor Greer and a quorum was established. The Exmore Planning Commission was called to order by Chairperson Sandra Savage and a quorum was established. Mrs. Savage opened the floor to the public for discussion. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the majority present. INVOCATION: The Invocation was given by Mayor Greer. PUBLIC COMMENT (LIMIT 5 MINUTES PER SPEAKER) PROPOSED COMPREHENSIVE PLAN: There was no one signed up to speak. Mr. Dukes introduced Connie Morrison with the Accomack-Northampton Planning District. Ms. Morrison has been working with the Town and the Planning Commission to update the Comprehensive Plan. Ms. Morrison gave a brief presentation that highlighted some of the goals and objectives of the Comp Plan and future land use. The goals and objectives were compiled from citizens during the public input session in October and then a follow up survey in January. Ms. Morrison said VDOT is more likely to fund an Urban Development area and that Exmore could benefit from rezoning Route 13 bypass to Urban Development in the future. CLOSE PUBLIC HEARING: Vice-Mayor Lewis made the Motion to close the Public Hearing. The Motion was seconded by Councilman Heaster and was passed unanimously. RESOLUTION BY PLANNING COMMISSION TO ACCEPT COMPREHENSIVE PLAN: Planning Commission member Donald P. Kellam, Sr. made the Motion to accept the Resolution to adopt the Comprehensive Plan. The Motion was seconded by Planning Commission member Perry Whitley and was passed unanimously.

ADJOURN PLANNING COMMISSION: Planning Commission member Donald P. Kellam, Sr. made the Motion to adjourn the Planning Commission. The Motion was seconded by Planning Commission member Dixie Greer. ADJOURN TOWN COUNCIL: Vice-Mayor Lewis made the Motion to adjourn. The Motion was seconded by Councilman Metz. The Motion was passed unanimously and the meeting was adjourned.
