ATTENDANCE

A quick reminder that every child should be at school when they are feeling well enough. We are trying to reach our ambitious target of 95%. If you want to take your child on holiday during term time, application forms need to be requested from the school office and then the Head Teacher will decide if this holiday is approved.

PRESS RELEASE 15th April 2013

“Kellogg’s gives local school a helping hand at breakfast time.” Today the Ridge Academy was given a grant of £450 to help fund the school breakfast club. The Ridge Academy is one of 600 schools from across the country to receive this money to help stop children going to school hungry. Sadly recent reports show that 40% of breakfast clubs have closed in schools in England where there is no budget for this extra service. Kellogg’s started the Help Give a Child a Breakfast Campaign last October to enable these clubs to take place as teachers have seen the problems caused in class when these clubs close. Mrs Ingram, Principal of The Ridge Academy said ‘Breakfast clubs are a lifeline for many children but with budgets being tight they could sadly be too expensive to afford in the future. The grant will really help our club and we look forward to spending the money on food and necessary items for our breakfast club’.

REMINDER At the request of some of the children, your child can now bring in their own fresh fruit juice, bottled water or squash to have with their lunch. Other drinks will not be permitted and water will be available for everyone. Thank you.

Oak and Willow’s trip to Legoland Oak and Willow classes had a fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable day at LEGOLAND as part of their creative curriculum topic. The children got to experience the wind, slapping them in their faces on the fast Dragon ride in Knights Kingdom. Diving down deep in the Atlantis Submarine and seeing lots of different fishes like Stingrays and Black Tip Reef Sharks. The day was finished off with all the children gaining their LEGOLAND driving licence at the Driving School. Now the learning really begins as the children design, plan and manage their own Theme Park!

Elm Class—Circus Skills Elm class have really enjoyed getting in the swing of it with dressing up and juggling as part of their circus skills topic. Here are some fabulous photos of them.

Ash Class Roll Up! Roll Up! Ash Class have been learning about the Circus this term. We have learnt lots of things with the help from our class clown, Coco. Ash class have enjoyed receiving letters from Coco about where he is in the world on his Circus tour. We have also researched the history of the Circus and we have had lots of fun dressing up as clowns! Ash class have also had the opportunity to use their Art skills by making elephants out of milk cartons and creating their own clown faces using paint. Ash class have been very brave too! They walked across A Slack line, which is similar to a tightrope, between two trees in the Nature area! All of Ash class enjoyed this and managed to walk across safely. Well done Ash! Mrs Geatches
