Our Beginning School Mass is an important occasion and we hope many of you will be able to join us for this on Monday. We will have morning tea for all those who wish to stay afterwards in the library. World Day of Prayer, 10.15am on Friday 3rd March
This is an ecumenical service and will take place in our church. The focus for this is on the Philippines and has been prepared by a working group based in the Philippines. Our senior students will b e h elping with this service. You a re warmly invited to join u s for this. Commissioning Mass
On Thursday, all the teachers travelled to Cromwell where we had a Mass with the Bishop, priests and teachers from the 4 Catholic Schools in Central Otago. At this Mass, we are officially commissioned by the Bishop in our role to teach at our Catholic schools, ensuring our children’s spiritual development is nourished and they learn about the good news that Jesus shared with us when he lived on Earth. It is also a great chance to catch up with other teachers and to share the challenges and celebrations at our schools. School Council Meeting
We had our first meeting this week and the students had some great ideas for how they wanted to make a positive difference from doing more planting in the gardens and keeping our playground litter free to assemblies and the running of House activities and ensuring our younger children understand the Mass. We discussed a proposal brought to the group about having the opportunity for skateboarding which they were keen to see happen. An announcement will be made about this early next week. It is so nice to see the sunshine. Let’s hope this continues! Enjoy the weekend. Ka kite, Trisch Inder Principal

Special Character
On Monday (20th February) we will celebrate the beginning of the school year with our Beginning School Mass. During this mass, we welcome all children who have started our school since our last school mass in term 4 last year. We will start our gathering underneath the school with a mihi whakatau (welcome) and we will process down to the church as we are called in by the Year 8 Leaders. Students and parents will then take their places inside the Church and families of new students will sit at the front of the Church with their children. This is an important Mass for us to start the year with and we hope to see lots of you there. The Year 8 Leaders will also be presented with their badges at this mass. Monday Morning Prayers we start each week with prayers led by a class in the church on Monday mornings. The class leading prayers is always mentioned in the newsletter on the Friday before. After prayers there will be class certificates, principal awards and any celebrations of children’s successes from the previous week. If you drop your child off at school in the morning we hope that you will stay for prayers; it is a special way to start the week. Sacramental Programme If your child is in Year 4 there will be some information going home next week regarding the Sacramental Programme. If you have an older child who has not done the programme or completed it (Baptism, Reconciliation, Confirmation, First Eucharist) please let me know by email
