Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Strategic Overview Mission MVA Department Performance Plan
The Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is committed to provide guidance, support, and legislative coordination to the divisions of the Colorado National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and Veterans Affairs enabling the divisions to assist Colorado's Veteran Community; and to provide ready forces at home or abroad, protecting the citizens and property of Colorado and the United States of America.
The Department's goal is to learn from past experiences and constantly update the response provided to the state so that it is both proactive and generates greater coordination and cooperation with intra-State agencies, and local/national partners.
Expand Svcs. Provided to Underserved Vets Through Planning
The Department seeks to update and improve services it provides to veterans beyond the I-25 corridor. Rural and student veterans stand out as being underserved within the state.

Major Program Area DMVA Colorado National Guard
National Guard Federal and State programs encompass activities to provide both the Federal Government and the Governor of Colorado with a trained and ready National Guard force for execution of assigned federal and state missions.
DMVA Division of Veterans Affairs
Veterans Affairs program encompasses activities to assist veterans, their family members, and survivors in securing benefits provided for prior service in the military.
DMVA Civil Air Patrol
Civil Air Patrol program encompasses activities to provide the Governor a trained and ready force to conduct emergency services missions.
