Range Rover L322 Chrome Side-Bar Fitting Instructions Safety These side-bars must be fitted by a competent mechanic and it must be ensured that they are securely fitted. If the vehicle is involved in an accident the bars must be thoroughly inspected for damage and replaced if any damage is visible to the bars / fitting bolts or mounting holes. Tools Required 1) 1 x 10mm spanner (or socket) 2) 1 x 13mm spanner (or socket) Kit Contents 2 side-bars (1 x left and 1 x right) 4 x M8 stainless steel bolts + plain washers 6 x M6 Stainless Steel Bolts + Plain Washers 2 x Thick nylon spacers 2 x Thin Nylon spacers Fitting Details STEP 1 - Open packing and check all parts are present and free from damage etc NOTE – the bars are bolted together to prevent damage during transit. Undo the bolts using a 10mm spanner. STEP 2 – Each bar has a shallow bend and a large bend at opposite ends of the bar. The shallow bend is at the rear end of the bar when mounted on the car and the larger bend is at the front.

STEP 3 – Looking under the car you will see there are 2 pairs of mounting holes on the inner sill of each side of the vehicle. NOTE – on the rear right hand side the bolts are already fitted (presumably as it would be impossible to get these bolts in without removing the air tank!) NOTE – on some vehicles there may be a plastic mud guard covering the holes – you will need to remove this to access the bolts and then re-fit the guard after the bars have been fitted. Front of car STEP 4 – Clean any mud out of the holes and spray some WD40 into the holes then insert the M6 bolts and washers into the holes but leave 100mm of thread showing so you can “hang” the bars over these holes later. ( see picture ) STEP 5 – On the inner chassis leg there is a pair of holes ( often covered with a circular piece of tape ). Locate these holes and ensure they are free from mud and spray some WD40 into the holes. STEP 6 – Hang the bar on the bolts fitted to the inner chassis rail as shown below. STEP 7 – There are 2 positions that these bars can be fitted in ( slid forward or slid rearwards ) and this depends mainly on if you have mud flaps fitted ( if so you need to push the bars to their rear most position ) but if you don’t have mudflaps its down to personal choice.

STEP 7 – When you have decided which position the bars need to be placed, line up the threaded hole in the inner chassis leg with the corresponding slot at the end of the outrigger. Then insert one of the nylon spacers ( anti vibration and spacer ) between the bar and the chassis leg as shown below. The large spacers are to be used at the rear mounting and the thin washer is used on the front mounting. Insert the M8 bolt and washer through the bar and into the hole in the inner chassis leg. Do not fully tighten the bolts. Do this for all 4 of the M8 bolts.

STEP 8 – Now fully tighten the M6 bolts on the inner sills ( 8 bolts ) to 10Nm STEP 9 – Now fully tighten the M8 bolts going into the inner chassis leg to 20Nm

Care and Cleaning These bars are made from premium grade Stainless Steel and are extremely corrosion resistant. To enhance the appearance of the product we recommend regular polishing with Autoglym metal polish.
