The school day starts at 8.40am and finishes at 3.00pm. For senior school students there is some flexibility in their learning program, which is clearly explained to them by the Senior School Management Team.

EXCURSIONS, CAMPS AND EXCHANGES Authentic learning experiences are central to your students’ education. At Reynella East College teachers offer the following enrichment opportunities: • subject based excursions • development of survival skills through Outdoor Education camps • learning to ski through an annual Ski Trip • overseas exchanges and trips to Japan, Germany and France.

PARENT PARTICIPATION Parents are valued as important partners in student learning. Parents and teachers are encouraged to communicate about student progress by telephone, email, through the Parent Portal (SEQTA) and on information and interview nights. Parents can also assist in the school by: • contributing to committees, working parties and the Governing Council • assisting in the canteen, the library, coaching sports teams, arts performances and in other school activities as advertised via the school newsletter • becoming a host family for International students.

ENROLMENT Our 2017 secondary enrolment is 1250 students from years 8-13. Year 8 enrolments for 2018 will be capped at 245. For full information on school zoning go to: www.decd.sa.gov.au

Reynella East College is an innovative and exciting school offering families an education for their children from Pre-School to Year 12. TRANSITION TO REYNELLA EAST COLLEGE The school has an extensive transition program in place to support students as they make the move from primary to secondary school. • contact with each primary school’s Transition Team consisting of staff and students throughout the year • contact with our new students in their primary schools throughout the year • two full day school visits to the secondary school to experience introductory lessons at Reynella East College • a home group based orientation program. Sports Academy Reynella East College offers a special focus Sports Academy in a range of sports including Football, Netball, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball and Rugby. This is designed to cater for gifted students and those who are passionate about pursuing a pathway to elite sport. Arts Academy Reynella East College offers a special focus Arts Academy in a range of areas including Music, Media-Arts (film making), Drama, Visual Arts/ Design and Dance. The Arts Academy has been established to cater for gifted students and those who are passionate about pursuing a pathway in the Arts. Innovators Academy Reynella East College offers a special focus STEM program that encourages critical and creative thinking through practical application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in partnership with industry and universities. The Innovators Program caters for gifted students and those interested in pursuing a career in STEM related endeavours. Students interested in applying for entry into any of these Academies must meet certain criteria and follow the school’s application process. Further information is available from the school.

8 & 9 YEAR LEVELS Our middle years provides a positive environment for supporting students towards success. The middle years program has: • Years 8 and 9 with nine home groups for each year level across four Learning Communities • a range of structures to support effective learning, social and emotional wellbeing, academic and interest extension for all students • an interdisciplinary approach to delivering the curriculum • a technology program to support knowledge production for all learners • a strong sense of local community and services.
