The mission of Skyline High School is to build and sustain a community that promotes personal connections, inquiry, agile minds, and determination. We nurture these qualities every day in everyone.
Students are assigned to one of four small learning communities (SLC) to create personalized learning environments that foster relationships and collaboration across disciplines; the large school experience involves students in small school interactions. Administrators, counselors, teachers, and support personnel are attached to each SLC and lead a weekly advisory called Skytime. All seniors attend a Sky12 advisory that addresses the stresses of senior year, college applications and transitions to the wider world. Relationships are prioritized. CURRICULUM Skyline High School’s curriculum is grounded in Project-Based Learning in conjunction with Mastery Learning. The curriculum is designed to meet the ACT standards, the Michigan State Standards, ISTE-S literacy standards and 21st Century Fluencies. Core course requirements include mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, and foreign languages. We offer a full range of electives in vocal music, orchestra, band, fine arts, physical education, and career/ technical education. MAGNET PROGRAMS Magnet programs provide students with a thematic focus, instructional continuity, and opportunities to apply academics to problem solving in real-world experiences. Skyline students make magnet enrollment choices during the ninth grade year. Students who complete the three-year sequence are awarded an endorsed diploma. MAGNET PROGRAM
