On Tuesday, October 4th, we are pleased to hold our first meeting of the South Toe Elementary Wildcat Reading Club. This Reading Club is designed to provide an opportunity for readers of all levels to read with and to listen to other children with the intention to promote the love of reading and the improvement of literacy skills for each participating child. Working with peers outside the classroom in comfortable surroundings makes reading special. The combination of working with peers who themselves clearly enjoy reading makes reading fun, even for the reluctant reader. It additionally develops school cohesion as children from all grades participate together in the Club. This club will meet every Tuesday in the South Toe Elementary school from 3:30-4:30 PM during the MAGIC after school program hours. Please note that Reading Club is NOT part of the MAGIC Program or the South Toe Elementary School Program and does not provide staff for supervision of participating children. This is a student/parent club (supervised by parent volunteers) that has been permitted to use the South Toe Elementary School facilities. Since the Club is meeting during MAGIC Program hours, participating children need to be signed up in the MAGIC Program. If your child is interested in participating and is not yet signed up for MAGIC, please contact Mrs. Deyton to see if space is still available. We are also looking for other opportunities to include non-MAGIC students and kindergarten children during alternate days/times. If school is closed or dismissed early on normal Club meeting days, the Reading Club will not meet. If your child is interested in participating in the South Toe Elementary Reading Club, you must first fill out the following form and return it to your child’s teacher before your child will be able to participate. More information can be found on the Reading Club website: https://sites.google.com/site/stereadingclub/home or by searching for our Facebook page of “South Toe Wildcat Reading Club”. --------------------------------------------------------------------I give permission for my child ____________________ to participate in the South Toe Elementary Wildcat Reading Club. I understand that parent volunteers will be responsible for supervising Club members during meeting times and that MAGIC Program and South Toe Elementary staff are not responsible for my child during this time. My child currently IS / IS NOT (please circle one) signed up for the MAGIC after school program. _____ I would like to volunteer to help with the Reading Club.
