Tuesday 1 May, 2018 Dear Parents, A very warm welcome to Term 2 in Year 2MF 2018! A special welcome to our new student Edan Taplin and his family, who joined us late last term. We hope that you quickly feel a part of our wonderful Bayview community, here at St. Luke’s Grammar School. Term One saw us gain an understanding of some reading strategies that help us be equipped to become great readers. In another term full of exciting learning experiences, we will work to build on these strategies. We are looking at ‘The Past and the Present’ in our English, Science and History studies. In English, we will particularly be looking at Australian authors. In Science, we are investigating past and present playgrounds. This term students will continue to engage with the curriculum through the framework of ‘Learning@StLukes’, allowing them to consolidate and reinforce how we ‘build learning power’. It is my aim this term for us to come to a deeper understanding of what it means to be a resourceful and resilient learner. Weekly routines • •

Please ensure that your children take responsibility for their stationary items. Their pencil cases will be sent home at the end of each week so that they can return on Monday, with sharp pencils and all items in order. If there are any items that need replenishing, please ask your child to let me know. Home Learning and Readers will go home each Thursday and are returned on the following Thursday. We will be accessing Maths Online through the Login that will be glued into the front of each child’s Home Learning Book. A reminder that Year 2 is to wear their sport uniform to school on Monday and Friday. For PE, on Mondays, they wear their coloured house shirt and on Friday, their white shirt. The children wear their normal winter school uniform on the other days. Please remember to name all items of your child’s clothing. A reminder that full school uniform means we wear our hats and blazers when we arrive at and leave school each day.
