Terms & Conditions The Matific Games - The Australia and New Zealand Maths Championships Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry. Participation in this promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Entries must comply with these conditions to be valid. Competition Website

www.matific.com/matificgames The competition is run by Slate Science Operations Pty Ltd, located in Suite 901, Level 9, 447 Kent Street, Sydney NSW 2000.

Eligible Entrants

Entry is open to all permanent residents of Australia and permanent residents of New Zealand Employees and their immediate families of Slate Science Operations Pty Ltd, and its associated agencies and companies are not eligible to enter. The class size must be a minimum of 10 active students. The school size must be a minimum of 100 active students. “Active student”​ means students that have their own login and enrolment within the school.

How to enter

All existing Matific users will automatically enter to the competition. To enter, each eligible entrant must: 1. Complete the registration form at ​www.matific.com/matificgames 2. Complete the login process by sending the Matific Team their school/class lists for student logins. All entries must include the entrant’s first name, last name, email address, phone number, school name and country to be eligible for entry. It is the entrant's’ responsibility to inform Slate Science if their email address or phone number changes during the competition period.

Time Zones

The competition takes place across all Australian and New Zealand time zones. Unless otherwise stated, all timing references are based on Sydney, NSW Australia time.

Registratio n Period

Registration commences between AEST 00:01 17. July 2017 and AEST 11.59pm 30 August 2017.

Warm Up Period

Between 14 August 2017 and 30 August 2017 a warm up period will take place to allow students, classes and schools time to prepare for The Matific Games.

Competition Period

Competition commences at AEST 00:01 on August 31, 2017 and concludes at AEST 14:00 September 13, 2017.

Competition Details

Students will be competing only against other students in the same grade. Classes will be competing only against other classes within the same grade. Matific reserves the right to ensure reasonable fairness for students completing activities outside their grade level All Schools will compete with each other.

Prizes

There are three prize categories that have many sectors. Prizes are to be awarded at a 1. School Level (1st, 2nd, 3rd and Top 10) 2. Class/ Teacher Level (1st, 2nd, 3rd and Top 10) 3. Student Level (1st, 2nd, 3rd and Top 10)

Class/ Teacher and Student prizes are broken down further so that Kindergarten classes and students are all competing against one another, Year 1 against Year 1 etc. Prize values are listed below, some prizes have been donated from external companies and they are listed as sponsors. Prizes Details

Slate Science Operations Pty Ltd is neither responsible nor liable for any change in the value of the Prizes occurring between publishing date and date the Prizes is claimed. All Prizes values are in Australian dollars. All Prize winners are advised that tax implications may arise from their Prize winnings and they should seek independent financial advice prior to acceptance of their Prize. No responsibility will be taken by the Promoter Slate Science Operations Pty Ltd for any changes in dates, times or cancellations or other arrangements that may prevent the Prize winners from winning the Prize.

Stars Earned

Earning stars in The Matific Games is done by students completing activities. The more activities completed the more stars on offer for the students. The school and class with the highest number of average stars collected across the registered participants will be the winners. The registered ​participants ​include students whose details have been provided by the teacher via the class list. “Earning Stars” means: ● ● ●

Per student: Points/stars are earned by completing episodes and worksheets successfully. Per class: A class’s score is calculated as the average score of all the competing students in the class. Per school: A school’s score is calculated as the average score of all the competing classes in the school.

“Bonus Points” means: ●

Notification of Winners

Classes earn double stars for each completed activity that is assigned by the teacher. The students’ stars are not doubled. The class receives 5 bonus points per teacher assignment. This holds true for the first 20 assigned activities ONLY so the class can get a maximum of 100 bonus points. For every parent report that is sent, the class will earn an extra 5 stars. This should be added to the school’s points too. This holds true for the first 20 reports sent ONLY. Each time a teacher views the “Reports” section of the teacher log in for the first time, they receive an extra 5 points for their class. When a teacher opens up a lesson plan the class will earn an extra 5 stars. This should be added to the school’s points too. When a teacher searches for content using the “By Curriculum” tab the class will earn an extra 5 stars. This should be added to the school’s points too. When a teacher uses the “Personal Activities” tab to differentiate content the class will earn an extra 5 stars. This should be added to the school’s points too.

The prize winner(s) who has provided all mandatory details and mentioned they want to be part of the competition and with the highest usage average of Matific will be selected by Matific after the completion of the matific games.. Winner(s) will be displayed on Slate Science’s marketing collateral and notified by e-mail.

Further Details 1. Subject to relevant state authority approval, Slate Science reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, at any time before the awarding of the Prizes to cancel the competition or to vary or cancel the award of the Prizes including, without limitation, circumstances where in the Promoter’s opinion (which it shall form in its absolute discretion): a.

Prize winners does not satisfy the Competition entry requirements; or

b.

Slate Science cannot conduct the Competition or award the Prizes for any reason beyond its control.

2. No responsibility will be accepted by Slate Science for late, lost or misdirected entries and all entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt of the entry into the Slate Science’s database and NOT time of transmission by the entrant. Slate Science accepts no responsibility for out-dated or incorrect contact details or contact details by which the entrant cannot be contacted during business hours on the relevant dates. 3. Slate Science reserves the right to cancel the award of prize/s to, and/or to disqualify any individual who, as determined in the sole discretion of Slate Science, has breached these terms and conditions or who has otherwise engaged in unlawful or improper conduct that is designed to jeopardise the fair conduct of the Competition. 4. A decision of Slate Science in relation to the conduct of the Competition is binding and conclusive and no correspondence will be entered into. 5. Entrants enter the Competition at their sole risk. With the exception of liability which cannot be excluded by law, Slate Science shall not be liable for any loss or damage which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for personal injury suffered or sustained as a result of taking the Prizes or entering the Competition. 6. All entries become the property of Slate Science and may be communicated to the public by Slate Science or used for promotional purposes, subject to the Slate Science’s privacy policy which is available at www.matific.com​.​ By entering the Competition, the prize winners and participants agree to the use of their name, image, audio-visual recording and/or photograph/s, without compensation, and agrees that Slate Science will own copyright in any such images, audio-visual recordings and photograph/s. 7.
