It is my desire at this time to respectfully call attention of the citizens of the Town of Northfield to the large amount of money expended by reason of washouts and the repairing of sluiceways, which were in bad condition. I was compelled to build 100 new sluiceways in order to get the highways in good condition, as they were in very bad shape when I took charge of them. The expense incurred was, by reason of washouts approximately $625.00 and for repairs and buildings of sluiceways about $530.00. These improvements leave the Highways in much better condition to care for the surface water than they were last Spring. J. E. PLUNKETT Commissioner.
