The posters get printed during public events, when the performance floor system is in use. Embedded within the centre of this ‘sprung’ floor module is a watertight, hidden printing press.

An elastomer ring is concealed within two aluminium ‘trays’. This creates a watertight seal and provides enough movement to print. Whist the technology has been inspired by modular sprung floor ballet systems this bespoke module differs in some fundamental ways: >Each module can move up and down independently of one another.

>The upper most surface is very different. The concealed pocket is alluded to through the use of a recycled rubber surface. The depth of rubber is deepest in the centre of the module, encouraging people to jump/bounce in this area.

>The independence of each module means that this system cannot match traditional sprung or activity floors in terms of distribution of loading.
