The CAC Sub-Committee formed in Spring 2014 to analyze the cause for declining enrollment and to develop strategies to turn trend around. The 1st formal meeting was in October 2015. Goals: o Increase enrollment and retention at PIN. o Identify PIN strengths and weaknesses. o Build on strengths: neutralize weaknesses. o Employ data-driven decision making. o Develop recruitment marketing and outreach plan. o Develop retention and other student success and strategies.

Results: o Increased number of courses at PIN. o Maintained PIN enrollment from Fall to Fall. o Created PIN social media presence and connected to over 100 community pages. o Established connections with the community. o Engaged currently-enrolled PIN student’s surveys. o Established PIN as Early College High school-Independent Learner “hub”. Ways we can broaden community engagement in our CAC
Mary Faria

Ideas: o Wade Bradfute discussed getting more community involvement. He wants to get more community organizations on campus. o Guadalupe Q. Sosa wants to find out if absent CAC members want to serve. Then, find replacements if they don’t. o Jeffrey Richard suggested getting in contact with Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods, and The Rotary Club to get more involved in the community.
Agenda Item 6:
Update on ACC Bond Projects
Bill Mullane
Discussion:
Bill Mullane started with informing everyone that proposition 1 and 2 of the bond initiatives were approved in 2014. He also talked about the cost of renovation for each campus. The ACC Accelerator will be offered at the PIN campus starting Spring 2015. o Ben Ferrell stated the ACC Accelerator opened in Virginia Tech and the concept is now used across the country. We are on track with other colleges. It is helping with success and retention. o Bill Mullane shared how students will work at their own pace, and can call for assistance when needed. o Wade Bradfute reported that nationwide only 12% of students who test in math reach college level. o Mary Faria asked how the community knows about the ACC Accelerator. Wade Bradfute informed everyone that ACC is using marketing campaigns and telling Early College High School students about it during orientation. o Guadalupe Sosa stated that we need more classes in the South Austin area. o Gillian Waterston informed everyone that developmental Math is being offered at the PIN Campus through the ACC Accelerator classes, which should help with retention and success for the PIN Campus. It will be smaller than HLC and only have 24 computer stations. o Mary Faria stated that we need to make sure the community knows about the new technology of these classes. o Gillian Waterston added more students come to class since it is a work at an appropriate pace course. Students can’t fall behind if they “miss” a class. The average withdrawal rate of traditional courses is 20-23%, HLC is half of that. o Denise Anding shared that many students pass the reading and writing assessment tests but do not pass the math portion. This is a better way for students to learn at their own pace. o Jeffrey Richard suggested that we need to get the word out about this, maybe have tours of the HLC. This is a game changer. o Linda Smarzik wants to eventually offer 25 ALEKS (Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces) classes. This would appeal to students with some college course work that want to go back to school but they are not ready for distance learning classes. o Gillian Waterston informed everyone that math is taking up about 50% of the HLC accelerator with other disciplines using the remainder. The math classes are now full. o Ben Ferrell thinks the environment of the class helps with the success of the students. Terry Thomas asked if ACC gets rebates when we upgrade our HVAC? o Bill Mullane answered, yes; we apply for and receive any rebates that apply. Denise Anding asked if PIN is in the mix of getting classes while RGC is being renovated. o Bill Mullane answered, I am sure all campuses are in the mix.
Agenda Item 7:
ACC Vision and Value Statement
Wade Bradfute
Discussion:
Wade read the ACC Vision and Values Statements. Mark Williams asked what the gateway for success is. o ACC Accelerator is something that will help with the success of the students.
Agenda Item 8:
Promoting Student Success with Guided Pathway
Grant Potts & Rachel Ruiz
Discussion: Grant Potts and Rachel Ruiz went over a power point presentation promoting student success with guided pathways, and discussed ways to improve success for all ACC students.
The focus of the program is more on goals for students rather than enrollment numbers. New processes focus on different ways to learn; self-paced learning instead of just memorizing materials. Ideally there will be 1 advisor for every 700 students, and there will be group advising for certain degrees Denise Anding asked how advising would be a part of this new process. o There are Pre-advisors for High School students. Career advisors for students during their first year. There will be a new advisor after the 1st year that is more knowledgeable in the students major.
Agenda Item 9:
Discussion and Feedback
Mary Faria Wade Bradfute
Discussion:
Mary Faria shared that students get degrees and then go nowhere; we need more involvement on getting graduating student’s jobs.
