Discussion:

Dr. Hensley discussed the terms of office for ACC Trustees and the Trustees’ positions which would be included on the upcoming November 4, 2014 General Election ballot. Dr. Hensley provided an overview of the ACC service area, the voters eligible to vote in the upcoming election, and a description of the Propositions included on the ballot. Proposition I will allow planning and construction to address the rapid growth of the district. Proposition 2 will permit renovations and health and safety updates for existing campuses. The Tax Cap Amendment Election would allow the College to increase the tax rate one cent each year for the next three years and would be used to expand programs, manage deferred and preventive maintenance for the existing campuses, employ necessary faculty and staffing, and stabilize tuition rates for students. William Mullane provided additional details and slides to support the presentation. Questions and answers followed. Trustee Kaplan discussed a potential Public/Private Partnership which ACC may utilize to bring over 500 new jobs to Austin and develop some of the Highland Campus with a construction savings of 30-50 million for ACC.
