RELIGIOUS LITERATURE Report given by Mrs. W. C. Chenoweth. Talked on by Mrs. Chenoweth Religious Literature has had a vital part in the building up of the Southern Baptist Den omination. In 1891 our Baptist Sund.:y School Board was formed with Dr. J. M. Frost as Executive Secretary. Throvgh 25 years his almost unerring hand guided as the tiny institution grew into great proportions. From this plant at Nashville flows an almost endless supply of great religious literature. It is unsurpassed by any other Publishing House of any denomination anywhere. Therefore, we recommend a greater study and v.se of this great store of information in all our churches, especiallyS.S. and B.T.U.literature and Study Course Books. We further recommend that the Word & Way and Home Life be put in church budgets when possible and that SUbscriptions be secured for The Commission, Home Missions and other periodicals. Mrs. W. C. Chenoweth.

BARRY COUNTY BAPTIST ASSO CIJl TION REPORT ON EVANGELIEM Report read by A. M. Edie Motion carried to Adopt the Report. This has been our greatest year in Evangeli, m in Missouri with 16,859 additions to our churches by baptism. last year t~.e member was 16,109. When the reports are in for 1950 we hope the number will be above 25,000. During t he great western crusade we baptised over 8,000 converts as Missouri Baptists. Shoal Creek baptisms, 352, 38 revivals in 25 churches, 2 churches no revivals, 3 churches no baptisms. We should all pray much for the great eastern crusade of March 25 to April 8, 1951. This will be the greatest evangelBt ic l:ndertaking of Southern Baptists thus far. We recommend: 1. That this association elect an organizer of evangelism and a chairman of evangelism-two men. 2. That each church in the association have a council of evangelism - pastor and heads of church agencies. 3. That this association have a simultaneous evangelistic crusade in 1951. 4. That each church have at least two revivals in 1951. 5. That every Baptist pray daily for a world-wide revival. A. M. Edie.

The Executive Board of this Association held a meeting at the noon hour and a resolution they passed was read at this time. The Resolution: That thi s body give to W. p, Richardson an indifini te call as Associational Missionary at a salary of $200.00 per mon th plus $25.00 per month eXJ:er. se accoun t. And was acce): ted by the body unanimously .

REPORT ON TEl\IPERANCE Given by Clyde McCormack. Talked on by Clyde McCormack, Fred McPhail In s,...ite of the warning in God's Word, Provo 23:31-32, the great majority of people today do not know what a grave danger the false, misleading liquor propaganda is, nor wh at a strong hold it has on the thought and actions of the Ame rican people. There is no stronger earthly power than public sentiment :md that is being rr~oulded and controlled by liquor propaganda. The liquor traffic s{:'ends 150 million dollars annU.ally in advertising falsehoods and half truths deceiving Ol:r YOll.th. What do the members of the beverage ind1J.stry e X ~E) ct to gain by th eir campaign? FIRST they want to increase the consumption and sale of liql:.or. SECON D they want to bt".ild so large an army of stead y drir.keJ's <: rr:ong the voters that restrictions will be impossible. THIRD They are using every modern device to persuade not only Oll r youth" but adul ts as well, that you must become a social drinker to be popular, that glamorol.'s drinking protrays America at its best, that liquor drinking is socially correct, an d there's no harm in a social drink. But it is to this class that almost every source of crime can be traced. Since the government is doing nothing to curb the menace of liqu.or, bnt rather i;; encouraging it, we believe our only solution is for Christians not onl y to abstain from the cse of liquor in any form, but to protest against others that drink and sell it. FOREIGN MISSIONS Report Given by A. H. Bennett Motion and second to adopt the report. Advance has been the keynote of the Foreign Mission Board the past year, at home and abroad. Let us look at the figures. The missionarie.<:; reported a total of 13,322 baptisms during the year 1949; a reasonable estimate for China, from which no report was received, would bring the total to approximately 15,000. The Board appointed 67 new missionaries during 1949; 50 have been appointed during the first four months of 1950. The total number of active foreign missionaries now under appointment is 753. Missionaries are stationed in 24 countries and assist national Baptists in several more. . The Foreign Mission Board receipts for 1949 totaled $5,319,261.04. The Board is entering a few new fields, in Venezuelia and Costa Rica. A mission~ ary couple has been appointed for work in Ecuador where Southern Baptists had no work before; and two other couples now in language school will probably choose Ecuador as a mission field. Two missionary doctors have been appointed for Arabia where Southern Baptist work has been delayed for lack of a doctor. One doctor is already on the field learn~ ing the language. A hospital is in prospe('t for southern Arabia. For the first time Southern Baptists are using mission airplanes for transportation. Submitted by Chairman Alvin Bennett. The two in use are in Brazil.

All these mission and benevolent reports talked on by A. B. Christian, pastor of Calvary Church, Neosho, Mo., in behalf of the State Board. Song: "The Light of the World Is Jesus." This speaker made the Co-operative Program as plain as A. B. C. to us. The above reports all adopted. RESOLUTIONS Read by Loren Easley Report Adopted. Be it Resolved, that the pastors of our churches stand firm for the New Testament doctrines and preach them from the pulpit. We further Resolve that we Baptists of this Association unite our prayers with our fellow workers for the enlarging of an evangelistic program and ingathering of the lost. We further Resolve that we express our grati tude to God for the splendid work that has been done in our association the past year. We wish to express ou.r appreciation for the splendid entertainment and fellowship Loren Easley, Chm. extended us by the Corinth Church and their pastor.
