Monday 4 April 2016 Dear Parents, RE: Term 2, 2016 Underwater Hockey Student Registration Your son/daughter has expressed an interest to play in the EBIS Underwater Hockey (UWH) team in Term 2. Mrs Andrea Crichton is the parent manager of the team and we have four very able ex-EBIS UWH students who coach the team at the weekly practices. These students are: Alex Curran, Sanne Vitalis, and Elisabeth Vitalis all Yr 11’s at Wellington Easts Girls’ College and Mazen Rabih Yr 11 student at Scots College. Underwater Hockey Information Practice times: Practices are every Friday 0730-0800 at WRAC (Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre) using a 50m swimming lane. Students pay the entry fee to the pool, while the lane hire cost is met through the registration subs. The first practice is Friday 6 May and the last practice for the term is Friday 8 July. Friday trainings will occur throughout the term once a week. UWH Players and Rules There are 6 EBIS players in the pool at anyone time and up to 6 subs. Games typically run up to 14 minutes long. Please check the rules and guidelines at Wellington Underwater Hockey Association (www.wuha.org.nz/mini-league.html). Mini-League Tournament information: Mini-league tournaments occur twice a term. Term 2’s tournaments will be held at Naenae Pool, Naenae on a Saturday from approximately 2:00pm till 8:00pm. Five to nine games are played with other intermediate teams in ‘pool play’ resulting in semi-finals and a final for each year group. Full tournament details outlining matches and times will be given to the students when I am notified. Mini-League Tournament Cost: The cost per team is $240 (12 players). At each tournament a player pays $20 each. There are up to two tournaments per term. Playing attire: Students need togs with the appropriate underwater hockey gear: a mask, snorkel and fins. The School provides the head cap, gloves and sticks. The school has 12 gear sets of: mask, snorkel and fin, which are able to be used if a student doesn’t have gear. Gear is also provided at mini-league tournaments. Registration Cost: The termly sub fee of $20 covers the purchase of new gear and lane hire.
