Foothill Site Council Minutes February 16, 2016 SITE COUNCIL MEETING Attendance: April Bush, Patty Cochran, Alison Ennik, Diane Jennings, Decker O’Steen, Laura Boyle, Helena Lamb, Charlie Litten, Dalila Neves, Anna Saunders, David Roe, and Candice Snyder Welcome: Laura Boyle called the meeting to order at 2:46 p.m. Call for any additions/deletions of agenda items: None Public Comment: None Review of Minutes: Charlie Litten moved to accept the January 19th minutes Helena Lamb seconded the motion. Motion passed 11-0-0* Old Business: By-Law Approval: The updated By-Laws were approved; there were no comments Charlie Litton moved to accept the Site Council By-Laws as presented Dalila Neves seconded the motion Motion passed 12-0-0 New Business: School Safety Plan: The updated School Safety Plan was reviewed and discussed. Minor changes to grammar we suggested as well as adding details on student cell phone use. Updated plan will be distributed to the Foothill Staff. Patty Cochran moved to accept the School Safety Plan Diane Jennings seconded the motion Motion passed 12-0-0 Educator Effectiveness Funds: Additional funding of $16/child received which must be used for Professional Development ($16,720). This was aligned to the Single Plan and spent as follows: $4,500 for “Art and Science of Teachers” special staff meeting on 1/23/16 $11,200 for training on using technology in the classroom $1,000 for assistance in support in Emotional Health and Safety (includes both student counseling and parent education) LCFF and General Fund Budget: 2015-2016 budget was presented and discussed.
Reports: Parents: PFA meeting this Wednesday, February 17th Strategic Planning recommendations were voted on and approved at the last meeting Receiving between $4,000 and $5,000 from PEAC; check from Macy’s fundraiser coming also PE Dances went well and PFA provided volunteers and cookies/water for the dances 8th Grade Activities details beings sent out via email and are also on the PFA Website. There is an updated payment link to make your payment online Career Day is 3/16, which the PFA is coordinating Faculty Luncheon is being planned; more details coming soon Students: Castle Project was enjoyed; but would have liked more time to complete PE Dance – it was not clear that the $25 ticket price was a donation, not a mandatory fee Teachers: 4/13 is the 50th Anniversary celebration. Foothill retirees have been invited Finishing up a unit on Egypt and a writing assignment where students pick a historical figure and write a literary argument.
