Petition to the MSG to embrace West Papua as a Full Member Dear Respected Leaders of the MSG, This letter is a petition from the Free West Papua Party of Australia (FWPP) to the MSG asking that you please embrace West Papua as a Full Member of the MSG. This letter is broken down into the following sections: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Apology to Melanesia on behalf of concerned Australians; Recognition of West Papuans as full Melanesian Brothers; Vision for Melanesia; Melanesia’s Freedom is Under Threat; and Concluding Comments.

Following are the sections. 1. Apology to Melanesia on behalf of concerned Australians. The FWPP, on behalf of all concerned Australians, sincerely apologise to the MSG for what the Australian Government has done to Melanesia. Over the years the Australian Government has predominantly cursed and taken advantage of Melanesia. Some instances are as follows: a. Kidnapped and enslaved some 60,000 Melanesians to work in the Queensland cane fields (known as Blackbirding); b. Supported the genocide of some 200,000 East Timorese (Melanesian) before being shamed into action to help; c. Helped create and is still supporting the West Papuan Genocide that is now estimated at some 500,000 Melanesians; and d. Poor support and execution of PNG’s independence. The FWPP once again apologise for these evils and look forward to the day when we, with the MSG, influence the Australian Government to make amends to Melanesia and this can start now with West Papua. 2. Recognition of West Papuans as full Melanesian Brothers West Papuans are undeniably Melanesian and furthermore they are looking to the MSG (through the ULMWP) to recognise them as full brothers within the MSG. Indonesia is not your Melanesian brother, on the contrary Indonesia (with help from the US and Australia) and has murdered more Melanesians, in known history, than any other country on the planet. And these killings are continuing today. West Papua is Family (April 2015)

All Melanesian islands have been colonised or enslaved at one stage and so each of you knows firsthand how grateful you are that you now have your freedom and independence. Please use this gratitude of yours to help free your West Papuan brothers too. Melanesians are entitled to be free and the Indonesian Government would rather kill Melanesians instead of giving them freedom. We all know that the leading government powers in the world have all done evil by West Papua but this will not be the case with you. You can lead the world in integrity and choose to give West Papua full MSG membership and fully recognise their right to freedom as per UN Resolution 1514. 3. Vision for Melanesia The FWPP seek to encourage the MSG with a vision of all Melanesian Peoples being free. Once all of Melanesia is free then you have the chance to be one of the leading people groups and regions on the planet. With all of the world’s conflicts, and climate problems a fully free Melanesia is needed by the world to demonstrate a better way. Please embrace this vision and your calling for such a time as this to free the next part of Melanesia by giving full recognition to West Papua. The accompanying diagram highlights the islands and peoples that make up Melanesia. Those labelled in black are those that currently have their freedom. The vision the FWPP seeks to impart to the MSG is where the MSG becomes a band of 12 free, independent, and strong brothers and sisters. 4. Melanesia’s Freedom is Under Threat The FWPP understands that the MSG is under pressure through various forms such as: finance, trade, and military pressure from the likes of the Indonesian Government (supported by the US and Australia) to reject West Papua. Effectively West Papua’s own stolen wealth is being used to pressure and persuade the MSG into effectively rejecting West Papua. The FWPP sees this as a threat to the MSG’s own independence. If West Papua’s full MSG membership is rejected based on pressures from groups that want West Papua to remain in bondage then eventually all of the MSG will lose their independence again.

5. Concluding Comments The FWPP petitions the MSG to give West Papua full member status within the MSG. By doing this MSG will become stronger and Melanesia’s enemies will be exposed and become weaker. The world needs a strong MSG and you, the current leaders, are people who are going to make this happen. The FWPP looks forward to working with the MSG to make all of Melanesia strong and free. West Papua, Merdeka!
