10) 11:52 The lawyers were guilty of robbing people of the knowledge of the Word of God.

FOLLOWING THE MESSAGE 1) 11:37 The Pharisees were looking for an opportunity to accuse Jesus.

11) 11:52 Jesus is the key to unlocking the Scriptures (Luke 24:44–48). When you take away that key, you cannot understand what God has said.

2) 11:38 Nothing in the Law commanded the ceremonial washings, but the Pharisees believed the ritual cleansed them of any defilement.

3) Am I missing God’s activity around me because my view of God is too obscured or because I am too preoccupied with my agenda? 4) 11:39-41 External defilement has little connection with the condition of the inner person. 5) 11:39 Some traditions are helpful as reminders of our rich heritage; but we must constantly be on guard that traditions not take the place of truth. 6) 11:40 Well-meaning people become dangerous if at any point they place man-made “truth” above the Word of God. 7) 11:42-44 Three woes:  They were so focused on minutia of ‘religion’ that they totally missed the bigger picture.  They loved the respect of people for their religiosity.  They misled people. 8) 11:42 Where the leaders were meticulous in giving every tenth herb seed to the Temple, they were totally unconcerned with the morality laws of God: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. 9) Reputation is what people think we are; character is what God knows we are.
